Job Description

This is a SCHEV-position that facilitates educational opportunity, access and degree completion for low-income students in all Virginia Tech majors. The coordinator will inform prospective students and their families about post-secondary education opportunities; advocate for Pell-eligible students participating in the CAC pre-college programs, help prepare students for a smooth high school-to-college transition, and gather data and assist with program evaluation. This position reports to the Associate Vice Provost for College Access. Limited telecommuting and hybrid working arrangements are possible.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree or other credential related to education, or a combination of education and experience to be successful in the role.
Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work in a team-oriented environment
Ability to work with multiple constituents throughout the state and region
Experience working with underrepresented and underserved students and their families
Travel and the ability to work some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

Virginia Tech knowledge through education or work experience
Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience with college access, student success and retention strategies
Familiarity with federal financial aid programs
Basic data analysis skills
