We're looking for an Operations Technician to join our team and help bring exceptional beer to life.  At Toppling Goliath, we are committed to excellence in craft brewing and to creating memorable experiences through our beer, food, and customer connections.


Summary

The Operations Technician supports multiple areas of brewery operations, including cellar and packaging. In the cellar, this role is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing tanks and transfer equipment, monitoring fermentation, regulating cooling processes, and ensuring beer meets conditioning and carbonation specifications. In packaging, the technician operates canning, bottling, and kegging equipment and is responsible for preparing, cleaning, and maintaining packaging systems in accordance with company SOPs.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Proper personal protective equipment is required to be worn during entire shift.
  • Operate equipment and machinery following all safety guidelines in an efficient manner.
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to brewery standards.
  • Learn, understand, and execute Operations tasks and duties according to company's SOPs.
  • Perform basic maintenance on packaging equipment to ensure it is running safely, properly, and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitary protocols.
  • Complete any necessary paperwork associated with assigned duties.
  • CIP (clean in place) parts, transfer hoses, and tanks according to the brewery's SOPs.
  • Pull yeast, if needed, or required and keep track of clean and dirty yeast vessels.
  • Perform dry-hopping procedures.
  • Assist in the cleaning of the cellar/packaging areas including the washing of equipment, floors, and tools to comply with company and government sanitation standards.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard cleaning and sanitation procedures and is required to have the knowledge in the prevention of exposures to chemical, physical and biological hazards that could compromise the integrity of our finished goods.


Physical Demands
Physical demands include but are not limited to standing for prolonged periods of time, squatting, crouching, bending, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive movements. Ability to lift 75 pounds unassisted and up to 175 pounds assisted, manually manipulating parts, pumps, and hoses. Pushing and pulling heavy loads. Work with hot, cold liquid, hazardous equipment, materials, and chemicals. Bending, stooping, pushing, lifting, kneeling, and reaching frequently throughout shift.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Minimum of 40 hours per week, up to 12 hours per day if necessary, depending on the production schedule and business needs.


Travel
No overnight travel is expected for this position.
