Job description

About the Role
HeyTutor has partnered with a school district in Miami-Dade County to provide high-impact, in-person tutoring to elementary school students. We are looking for exceptional Spanish-bilingual tutors who are passionate about helping students overcome academic challenges and reach their full potential.
This is more than a tutoring role. You'll have the opportunity to be a changemaker for students who need additional support the most. Our tutors work directly with students who may be significantly below grade level, helping them build foundational math skills, confidence, and a stronger path toward academic success.
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor's Degree.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for tutors who bring strong instructional skills, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to student success. Candidates with prior teaching or classroom instructional experience are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate is someone who can walk into a classroom, connect with students quickly, adapt to what they need, and make a meaningful difference every day.
Our strongest tutors are:
  • Reliable and accountable - consistently on time, prepared, and committed to the full program schedule
  • Adaptable - comfortable adjusting to different students, grade levels, groups, schedules, and instructional needs
  • Coach-able and collaborative - receptive to feedback and able to work within MDCPS instructional expectations
  • Student-centered - patient, encouraging, and able to build positive relationships with students who may be struggling academically
  • Strong communicators - able to explain elementary math concepts clearly and in multiple ways
  • Responsive instructors - able to differentiate instruction and use modeling, visuals, scaffolding, and checks for understanding
  • Professional and organized - able to independently manage attendance, materials, transitions, and daily responsibilities

If you are someone who believes that every student can make meaningful academic progress with the right support, encouragement, and instruction, we want to hear from you.
Pay & Benefits
  • $22-$26 per hour, based on education and experience
  • Attendance-based pay incentives
  • Voluntary health benefits, including Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity
  • 401(k) retirement plan
Schedule
  • Monday-Friday availability required
  • Must be available between 8:00 AM-4:00 PM
  • Consistent attendance and commitment to the full program schedule are essential
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Spanish bilingual preferred
  • Prior teaching or classroom instructional experience strongly preferred
  • Experience tutoring or working with elementary-age students preferred
  • Comfortable teaching K-5 mathematics, including foundational math concepts
  • Ability to support students with significant academic skill gaps
  • Experience working with ELL students and/or students with disabilities is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a classroom and small-group setting
  • Ability to adapt instruction to students with varying skill levels
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to pass an FBI/DOJ in-person background check provided by HeyTutor
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging, targeted math intervention to K-5 students in small groups of approximately 4:1
  • Reinforce foundational math concepts and classroom instruction
  • Support students who are performing significantly below grade level
  • Differentiate instruction based on individual student needs and skill levels
  • Provide appropriate support and scaffolding for ELL students and students with disabilities
  • Adapt to changing student groups, grade levels, schedules, and instructional priorities
  • Follow MDCPS curriculum and instructional guidance
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and instructional coaches
  • Build consistent, positive relationships that help students feel supported and capable
  • Independently manage attendance, materials, transitions, and daily schedules
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and student-focused presence at the school site
Why You'll Love This Role
  • Make a measurable difference for students who need additional academic support
  • Work directly in local elementary schools and become a trusted part of the school community
