Job description

EdTech Front-End Developer

This position is with an EdTech (Educational Technology) Company downtown, Chicago. This company has been around for over 15 years and has recently decided to refocus their innovation. You'd get a chance to lead the front-end development efforts using Angular 4 and 5. You'd have the opportunity to join a growing team and have opportunities to take front-end ownership in what are highly visible products. You'll be working closely with the UX Manager and marketing teams to bring educational innovation to life through your development efforts. There is currently 1 other mid-level developer in-house, and they supplement the efforts with an offshore team which they plan to phase out.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the technical lead for our entire front-end development process
  • Lead all front-end development with our current technology stack
  • Work closely with the UX Manager to transform wireframes into rich UIs
  • Finish the development of an application that is almost-production ready to improve overall user experience and accessibility before launch
  • Collaborate with design, marketing and other business stakeholders to discuss feasibility of new projects
  • Gather requirements from business stakeholders & develop product roadmaps for new development
  • Work on a phase-out of offshore software developers, and help to transition the entire development process in-house
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience with front-end development using technologies like HTML, HTML5, CSS & CSS Frameworks, JavaScript, Typescript, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience using Angular 2 or higher
    • Preferably experience with Angular 4 or 5
  • 1+ year of experience with Reactive Programming using Redux or RxJS and ngrx/store
  • Experience with build tools
