Scope of Position:The YouthEmployment Specialistis a professional position dedicated to promoting youthprograms and services to the community, businesses, and youth participants. YouthEmployment Specialistssupport andassistin all areas related to gaining and/orretainingemployment and career advancementfor youth aged participants.Acting as a liaison between local employers and program participants,Youth Employment Specialist team memberssucceed byproviding a positive experience of matching job seekersdesiringsuitable and sustainable employment and/or training, with employers; all whilemaintainingcompliance with Federal, State and Local policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Provideemployment and training assistance/guidance to young adults throughconsistent andcomprehensive case management and follow-up to ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract, which includes but is not limited to:
    • DetermineWIOA eligibility and complete required documentation for enrollment
    • Case Manage participants and employers toassistineliminatingchallenges to

gaining andretainingemployment

    • Work with the team to develop employer strategies that result in work-based

learning, job placement, and employer services

    • Providereferrals toappropriate communityservice or social service agencies
    • Prepare and deliver customized presentations/workshopsto job seekers
    • Collect documentation toattainperformance goals
  • Providegreat customer service to all customers (job seekers/employers/partners) in

the workforce system

  • Develop and manage outreach to young adults, employers, andthecommunity
  • Learn and implement Federal, State and Local WIOA policies and procedures related

To EDSI, WIOA, and other contracted grants

  • Contact employers by phone, referral or in person to schedule face-to-face meetings
  • Review participant employment skills and match with active positions inMoJobs
  • Represent EDSI at conferences, meetings and targeted social functions asrequired
  • Work under the guidance of supervisor to implementthe regional vision
  • Other opportunities as available

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Career counselingor Case Managementexperiencepreferred
  • Previousexperience working with the young adult population preferred
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts
  • Ability todemonstratestrong verbal andwritten communication skills
  • Ability tomaintainflexibility as needs of contract or contractorrequire
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Human Resources,or related

area preferred

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Valid Driver's License and aninsuredautomobile arerequired
