Job description

About Wall Colmonoy
Wall Colmonoy Corporation is an 88-year-old privately held manufacturer of specialty alloys, brazing materials, and engineered coatings for aerospace, automotive, oil & gas, and industrial markets. The Alloy Products Business Unit produces specialty alloy powders and surfacing materials at facilities in Los Lunas, NM and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Corporate headquarters is in Madison Heights, MI. This role is based on-site at the Los Lunas facility, working closely with plant operations while reporting into the corporate finance team.
Position Summary
The Accountant (Alloy Products) owns the full entity accounting cycle for the Los Lunas and Edmonton manufacturing facilities, based on-site in Los Lunas, NM. Los Lunas operates on Microsoft Dynamics 365; Edmonton operates on Microsoft Dynamics AX with a CAD functional currency. The multi-currency environment - monthly CAD-to-USD translation and CTA rollforward - is an important element of this role. Edmonton's accounting is established and running in-house; the incoming Accountant inherits a documented process, not a cold start. This role reports to the Controller in Madison Heights and works closely with Los Lunas plant operations day to day.
Entity Scope
  • Los Lunas, NM:
    • D365 live * On-site * Home base
    • Full entity close: GL, AR, bank rec, fixed assets, IC. D365 live and stable. USD functional currency. Specialty alloy powder production.
  • Edmonton, Canada
    • Dynamics AX * CAD functional currency
    • Full entity close managed remotely from Los Lunas via AX. Monthly CAD-to-USD translation and CTA rollforward. Process established and running.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Monthly close - Los Lunas and Edmonton
    • Prepare and own the monthly entity close for both Alloy Products sites: journal entries, account reconciliations, and close checklists
    • Prepare all standard recurring entries with supporting documentation; route to the Controller for approval before posting
    • Flag variances or out-of-period items to the Controller before the close package is assembled
  • Edmonton - multi-currency and AX (managed remotely from Los Lunas)
    • Prepare the monthly CAD-to-USD translation entries and maintain the cumulative translation adjustment (CTA) rollforward
    • Apply consistent exchange rate methodology per CFO-approved policy
    • Operate in Microsoft Dynamics AX for all Edmonton entity accounting: AP, AR, GL, and bank reconciliation
    • Flag significant FX exposure or rate variance to the CFO
  • Accounts receivable
    • Own AR for both entities: weekly aging review, collections follow-up, and customer statement preparation
    • Coordinate cash application with the AP Clerk; do not self-apply receipts to open invoices
  • Bank reconciliations and fixed assets
    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Los Lunas and Edmonton for Controller review and sign-off
    • Maintain fixed asset sub-ledgers for both sites; additions and disposals above threshold require Controller pre-approval
  • Intercompany and cross-border
    • Prepare intercompany entries for both entities; reconcile IC balances monthly including CAD-denominated IC billings
    • Escalate any IC discrepancy to the Controller immediately - do not net or carry forward without resolution
  • Site partnership - Los Lunas
    • Serve as the on-site finance point of contact for Los Lunas plant leadership and operations team
    • Support local purchasing, inventory, and production accounting questions as they arise
    • Coordinate with corporate finance (Madison Heights) on reporting deadlines and consolidated close support

Qualifications and Experience
  • Required Qualifications
    • 3+ years accounting experience with independent close ownership
    • Multi-entity or multi-site close experience
    • Comfort with multi-currency accounting (translation entries, CTA)
    • Strong GL, reconciliation, and journal entry skills
    • Able to work on-site at the Los Lunas, NM facility
    • Comfortable working remotely with a Controller and finance team based in Michigan
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Microsoft Dynamics AX or D365 experience preferred
    • CPA or active CPA candidate
    • Manufacturing or industrial background
    • Canadian entity or cross-border intercompany experience
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
