About the Position

The EDM Specialist is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM machines and hole pop to produce high-precision components. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to manage workflow efficiently to meet production deadlines. The specialist will also perform routine maintenance, inspect finished parts, document program changes, and ensure compliance with company and customer specifications. Additionally, they will support process improvements, assist in training new employees, and contribute to quoting and inventory management. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in wire EDM machining who thrives in a collaborative and quality-driven environment.



Primary Job ResponsibilitiesΒ 

  • Program, set up, and operate wire EDM machines and hole Β Β pop.
  • Schedule workload and track due dates to ensure timely Β Β completion.
  • Perform necessary inspections to maintain product quality Β Β standards.
  • De-burr, clean, count, and package finished parts.
  • Document and manage program changes as needed.
  • Complete and maintain required paperwork.
  • Provide input on fixturing for future work and assist Β Β with troubleshooting.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing work within the facility.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance to ensure optimal Β Β performance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all Quality System documentation, including the Β Β Quality Manual, Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and Β Β customer requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in training new employees on wire EDM operations.
  • Support quoting processes for external customer projects.
  • Monitor inventory and order machine parts as needed.

Requirements

Education and Experience:Β 

  • 2+ years' experience in a Mold Building or equivalent Precision Custom Manufacturing organization w/ Technical Degree in Machine Tool Technology, or 5+ years related experience


Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to work independently with little supervisionΒ 
  • Good communication and follow up skills
  • Ability to make discretionary decisions regarding efficient use of time and equipment
  • Ability to coordinate many active projects at onceΒ Β 
  • Excellent attention to detail in pursuit of 1st time quality results

Β Technical Knowledge

  • Proficiency in operating and programming wire EDM machines and hole pop machines.
  • Familiarity with inspection equipment and quality control standards.
  • Basic knowledge of general office equipment, including computers and calculators.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to sit, stand, move, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
  • Frequently required to lift or exert force between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally required to lift or exert force between 50-100 lbs.
  • Infrequently required to exert force exceeding 100 lbs.
  • Visual acuity required for reading documents, interpreting measurements, and monitoring computer screens, with or without accommodation.
  • Hearing ability required to monitor machining processes and respond to operational sounds, with or without accommodation.
  • Work is performed in a standard manufacturing environment, with exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment and precision machining tools.
