Job description

Overview
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage directorate weapons systems-related test and evaluation (T&E) technical documents production through managing the work of subordinate technical writers/editors at the directorate and division level.
• Advise the directorate's Chief Engineer, who is responsible for directorate technical documents on behalf of the Director and U.S. Army Redstone Test Center (RTC) Technical Director.
• Review weapons systems test and evaluation plans, interim data reports, test reports, standing operating procedures, memoranda, and other documents as part of the technical writing and editing quality review team. Identify needed corrections and recommend improvements to draft documents to subordinate level directorate/division technical writers/editors and other reviewers or authors who are
engineers and of other professional disciplines.
• Ensure documents comply with applicable Department of Defense, Department of Army, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), and RTC standards.
• Maintain quantitative information relevant to document production at the directorate and division level in order to report status of documents in process and periodically assess and report the directorate's and divisions' performance.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, & LICENSURE:
• BA/BS in English, Communications, or related disciplines from an accredited college/university.
• Five (5) years' experience in technical writing for a research and development organization.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Basic understanding of engineering terminology.
• Experience routinely interacting with engineers from multiple engineering disciplines.
• Ability to interface with technicians and engineers to capture technical data and procedures a plus.
• Preferred weapon system test and evaluation experience.
• Proficient user of Microsoft's Office 365 suite of software and applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Microsoft's SharePoint.
