Editing Internships information

What are editing internships?

Editing internships are temporary positions, often for students or recent graduates, that provide hands-on experience in the editing field. Interns assist professional editors by proofreading, fact-checking, and sometimes writing or revising content for publications, websites, or media companies. These internships help individuals develop essential editing skills, learn industry standards, and build a professional network. They can be paid or unpaid and are valuable stepping stones for those pursuing careers in publishing, journalism, or communications.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during an editing internship, and how will I collaborate with other team members?

As an editing intern, you’ll typically assist with reviewing and refining a variety of written content, such as articles, blog posts, marketing materials, or manuscripts, depending on the organization. You'll collaborate closely with writers, senior editors, and sometimes designers to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in the final product. Regular feedback sessions and team meetings are common, allowing you to learn about editing standards and workflows. This hands-on experience not only sharpens your editing skills but also gives you insight into the editorial process and helps you build valuable professional relationships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an editing intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Editing Intern, you need strong writing, grammar, and attention to detail skills, often supported by coursework in English, journalism, or communications. Familiarity with editing tools such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and style guides like AP or Chicago Manual is typically expected. Excellent time management, communication, and a willingness to accept feedback are valuable soft skills in this role. These abilities help ensure accuracy, clarity, and effective collaboration in producing high-quality written content.

Job description

Creative Pop Culture Marketing Agency Internship

Hollywood Branded rocks at building brand partnerships through Product Placement, Celebrity Endorsement and Influencer Marketing for clients all over the world.

You may be the SUPERSTAR INTERN that we are looking to have join our team this summer if you are:

  • Thrilled to be an active part of a vibrant marketing firm where your ideas are appreciated and asked for.
  • Eager to know what happens behind the scenes that helps productions, celebrities and brands create successful partnerships.
  • Fascinated by how social influencer brand partnerships really work.
  • Enthusiastic to lend a hand to help at product placement shoots and event activations.
  • Excited to learn how to provide script coverage and identify solid brand partnership opportunities - and how to sell those in to both the brand and the production partner.
  • Awesome at research and connecting the dots.
  • Passionate about creating content - whether that be through words, pictures or video.
  • A true believer in the power of pop culture.

Our internship program provides you with all of this, and more - plus you will be creating amazing resume building content and polishing your soon-to-be-learned skills to land that post-grad dream job. This is an internship packed with learning opportunities that will be as beneficial to you as you make it. Many of our former interns have later landed positions at major talent agencies, studios, production companies, advertising agencies and in marketing departments at brands.

Want to know what you won't be doing? You won't be spending endless hours during your internship: getting coffee, making copies, filing paperwork, answering phones, picking up lunches. Yawn. You don't need to come to Hollywood to learn those things. Learning Experiences & Major Assignments Include: Blog writing, editing, and publishing on website, Film and graphic content creation, TV/Film review for product placement, Social Influencer research & communication, social media content creation & posting, marketing roles for non-profit organization, script breakdown & analysis of marketing opportunities, client & production sales outreach & calls, as well as individualized intern projects based on interests.

If that sounds like the best thing since sliced bread, then our internship might be the right one for you.

Oh, and by the way... we are a dog friendly agency, which means you must be dog friendly too.

This on-site internship is paid at $17.50/hour and will meet most university requirements for college credit (please consult your university to confirm) and can be tailored to meet the specific expectations and criteria of any university internship program.

Hollywood Branded is currently accepting internship applications for Fall 2026. Our internships are fully on-site, so applicants must be located in the Los Angeles area for the duration of the Internship and have access to a car for commuting to Redondo Beach.

Our Fall Internship is a 12-week program that requires 15 hours of attendance weekly on-site, which must be during HB office hours - between 8:30am and 5:30pm PST Monday through Friday.
