Editing Assistant information

What is an editing assistant?

Editing Assistants are professionals who support editors in the preparation and revision of written content for publication. Their responsibilities often include proofreading, formatting documents, checking for consistency and accuracy, and sometimes fact-checking or organizing materials. Editing Assistants may work in publishing houses, media organizations, or for independent authors, helping ensure that final documents are polished and error-free. They play a key role in the editorial process by managing administrative tasks and assisting with project coordination.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an editing assistant?

To thrive as an Editing Assistant, you need strong attention to detail, excellent grammar and language skills, and a relevant degree or coursework in English, journalism, or communications. Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word track changes, and content management systems is typically required. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and effective communication help you excel in supporting editors and managing deadlines. These skills ensure high-quality content production, efficient workflow, and successful collaboration within editorial teams.

What challenges do editing assistants face, and how can they overcome them?

Editing Assistants often juggle multiple tasks, such as managing deadlines, coordinating with different departments, and ensuring accuracy in edited content. Balancing these responsibilities while adapting to shifting priorities can be challenging. To overcome these hurdles, strong organizational skills, clear communication, and proficiency with editorial tools are essential. Proactively seeking feedback and staying adaptable also help Editing Assistants support their teams more effectively and contribute to smooth editorial workflows.

Job description

We're looking for an Associate who understands how digital ecosystems work, how audiences behave, and how to translate those insights into strategies and actions that shape reputation, influence stakeholders, and drive business outcomes for some of the world’s most recognized leaders and organizations.

Day to day, you’ll help leaders and organizations navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape, translating insight into influence and strategy into impact.

Responsibilities
  • Help develop and execute integrated digital and social media strategies for executives and corporate brands, contributing research, insights, and recommendations across fast‑moving campaigns and always‑on programs.
  • Support executive visibility and thought leadership programs across LinkedIn and other relevant platforms, helping leaders build credibility, influence, and engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Drive day‑to‑day client workstreams: draft agendas, manage approvals and escalations, participate in client calls, and keep actions and follow‑through moving with minimal oversight.
  • Create client‑ready deliverables (POVs, decks, memos, and social copy) in the appropriate voice and requiring minimal editing; assist with crisis and issues communications as needed.
  • Assist with paid social and digital campaigns across platforms such as LinkedIn, Meta, X, and Google, including targeting, creative coordination, channel and spend management, and performance optimization.
  • Conduct social listening, digital audits, and competitor analyses; measure and report on campaign performance (paid and organic), translating findings and learnings into actionable recommendations and ongoing optimization.
  • Support digital visibility initiatives across SEO, GEO, and online reputation management, with awareness of emerging AI‑driven search experiences and evolving platform dynamics.
  • Stay current on the digital ecosystem and leverage AI and LLM tools to support research, content development, and workflow efficiency, bringing relevant trends and implications proactively to client teams.
Qualifications
  • 3‑4 years in digital and social media, with demonstrated ownership of workstreams on accounts and integrated campaigns.
  • Strong track record planning and optimizing multi‑channel programs across owned, social, search, and paid channels, with measurable impact across metrics such as SOV, engagement, amplification, and reputation‑related outcomes.
  • Demonstrated platform expertise across major social channels, with the ability to build channel strategies and editorial calendars grounded in audience behavior and format priorities.
  • Hands‑on experience activating and managing paid programs, with working knowledge of targeting, testing, and optimization levers.
  • Experience using social listening tools (such as Sprinklr, Quid, NewsWhip, etc.) to monitor competitors, cultural trends, and emerging issues, and translate signals into clear recommendations.
  • Exposure to issues and crisis communications, including monitoring protocols, escalation processes, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to participate confidently in client meetings and present recommendations.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, client‑driven environment where priorities shift and responsiveness matters.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
