Job description

Job Title: Welder Location: Tomball, TX Type: Contract to Hire Compensation: $22 - $26 hourly Contractor Work Model: Onsite Hours: Monday to Friday (7AM to 330PM) SUMMARY: The Welder is responsible for their specifically assigned, hands-on tasks ensuring accuracy and efficiency of the work performed and ensuring that safety and quality standards are upheld and maintained within the yard (including the reconditioning and/or welding area and the warehouse). RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to read and understand fabrication drawings
  • Consistently operates tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Maintains a valid welding certification.
  • Ensures equipment is properly placed and returned to its proper storage location.
  • Assists in maintaining an organized and efficient yard.
  • Work productively as a member of the team
  • Takes responsibility in the proper use, maintenance and safety of all tools and equipment.
  • Complies with standards regarding quality, safety, accuracy, productivity, etc.
  • Participates in all physical stock taking to ensure inventory and maintains daily interaction with yard staff, truck drivers and management.
  • Consistently uses approved safety equipment (PPE).
  • Asks questions and ensures continually training in product knowledge.
  • Ensure proper disposal of all damaged/scrap material in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Complies with company cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
  • Safely performs pushing, pulling, and lifting tasks to upwards of 100lbs or more only with the proper use of the appropriate equipment provided.
  • Ensures equipment is and will be functioning properly and is placed and returned to its proper storage location.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses valid welding certification and experience in MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding.
  • High school graduate.
  • Previous experience in a construction or building materials yard a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills including an excellent command of English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency and effective problem solving skills.
  • Willing and able to learn new products, concepts and techniques.
  • Collaborative and able to work independently in a results-driven, fast-paced environment.
