Who will you be working with?

Our New Product Development team team combines knowledge of customers’ requirements with deep domain expertise and tenured experience to deliver new Maintenance of Way (MOW) equipment and solutions that exceeds expectations. Here you will partner with other key stakeholders to support our customers and their operations.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the New Product Development team, you will be responsible for designing functional, reliable, cost-effective Maintenance of Way products or systems within cost targets and while maintaining project schedule. You will also provide direct support to our on-site R/D team with hands-on review and troubleshooting.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • Four (4) + years in industry related field.
  • Experience in design structures and mechanisms.
  • Experience with electrical control and hydraulic systems.
  • Results driven.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Experienced in 3D CAD modeling. Proficiency in Pro E Creo is preferred.
  • Mechanism analysis using standard methods (hand calculations) and/or computer simulation (mechanical preferred).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Plans and organizes design work on individual components or pieces as assigned by the Project Leader.
  • Uses CAD systems to layout, design and modify existing equipment and produce drawings for new or existing equipment.
  • Performs engineering calculations on new and existing designs.
  • Maintains individual design schedule to ensure on-time completion as determined by Project Leader.
  • Creates designs within pre-defined schedule and cost targets and supports implementation in Production.
  • Advise Project Leader on a regular basis as to the status of the design. 
  • Creates and maintains bills of materials and writes engineering change orders.
  • Interfaces with others during the design, building and field-testing of prototypes or production models – i.e. Production, Testing, Sourcing, Planning, Suppliers or Customers.
  • Presents and participates in design reviews.
  • Meets requirements on function, reliability, safety and performance of equipment operation.
  • Troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Work is primarily light duty and requires the ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • This position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk unassisted. Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • The employee is required to talk and hear.
  • Normal correctable vision is required.
  • Travel less than 5%

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $68,900-98,200. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
