Job Title: Project Manager

Job Description:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Project Manager – Retail Electricity & Gas to lead and coordinate projects across business units, IT, regulatory, and customer operations. This role will focus on the successful delivery of initiatives related to market expansion, system implementations, regulatory compliance, customer onboarding, billing platform integrations, and product rollouts in deregulated energy markets.
The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of the retail energy industry, understands the nuances of utility coordination, EDI transactions, and customer lifecycle management, and is capable of driving projects from inception through execution.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, execute, and manage cross-functional projects in the retail electricity and natural gas space across deregulated markets.
  • Coordinate efforts between internal teams (operations, IT, legal, customer service, billing) and external stakeholders (utilities, vendors, regulators).
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and resolve issues to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Lead regular status meetings, track milestones, and provide clear, concise reporting to stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Oversee system implementations, including CRM, billing, enrollment, and EDI transaction platforms.
  • Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., PUC, ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, etc.) and utility standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships for third-party systems and services involved in customer enrollment, usage data, billing, or EDI.
  • Identify process improvements and help streamline workflows for better operational efficiency.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of project management experience, with at least 2 years in the retail energy industry (electricity and/or gas).
  • Solid understanding of deregulated energy markets, utility interaction, and customer lifecycle (enrollment, billing, renewal, drop).
  • Experience managing projects related to system integration, market entry, billing systems, or regulatory change.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Asana).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
