Apave America is Hiring: Experienced (ECT) Level II Eddy Current Technician- Willing to relocate to support operations in St. Paul, Minnesota
Eddy Current Testing (ET) Technician utilizes specialized eddy current testing equipment to examine the integrity of metal tubes by detecting flaws or defects with the tube wall, typically by inserting a probe into the tube and analyzing the electrical signals generated to industry standards and safety protocols; requiring a strong understanding of eddy current principles, data interpretation, and the ability to generate detailed inspection reports.
Key Responsibilities of the Level II Eddy Current Technician:
- ASNT Level II Eddy Current Certification
- Proven hands-on experience performing ET inspections inserting eddy current probes into tubes and scanning the entire length to detect anomalities in the material.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and acceptance criteria
- High level of accuracy and meticulousness in identifying and recording defects
- Valid driver's license and ability to work varying schedules as needed
- Additional NDT certifications are a plus (UT, MT, PT, RT)
Skills and Technical Knowledge:
- Proficient in Eddy Current Testing (ECT) techniques, including surface and near-surface flaw detection.
- Ability to set up, calibrate, and operate eddy current equipment in accordance with written procedures.
- Skilled in identifying and categorizing flaws like pits, cracks, or wall thinning.
- Strong understanding of signal response, phase analysis, and impedance plane interpretation.
- Knowledge of probe selection, frequency ranges, conductivity measurements, and lift-off effects.
- Documentation of inspection findings, including detailed descriptions of defects, their location, and severity, in accordance with relevant standards
- Level II certification in Eddy Current testing from a recognized accredited body
- Understanding of Eddy current principles, including electromagnetic induction, impedance plane analysis, and signal interpretation.
Physical Requirements:
- Move, carry, and lift objects 50 lbs. or more.
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, reach, and climb.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
