Ecosystem Program Manager information

What is an ecosystem program manager?

An Ecosystem Program Manager is a professional responsible for overseeing and coordinating programs that foster collaboration and growth within a business or technology ecosystem. They work with partners, stakeholders, and internal teams to develop strategies, manage relationships, and drive initiatives that benefit the entire ecosystem. Their role often includes project management, partnership development, and ensuring that all parties are aligned towards common goals. Ecosystem Program Managers are essential in industries where multiple organizations or technologies must work together to deliver value.

How does an ecosystem program manager typically collaborate with internal and external partners to drive program success?

An Ecosystem Program Manager frequently works across departments—such as product, engineering, marketing, and business development—to align priorities and resources. They also build and maintain relationships with external partners, including startups, industry organizations, and sometimes government entities, to foster collaboration and drive mutual growth. Regular communication, joint planning sessions, and feedback loops are essential to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and program goals are met. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous partnerships in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ecosystem program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Ecosystem Program Manager, you need expertise in program management, strategic partnership development, and a background in business or technology, often supported by a relevant degree. Familiarity with CRM platforms, collaboration tools like Slack or Asana, and experience with API integrations or partner portals are typically required. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills help you build strong networks and drive ecosystem growth. These competencies are crucial for successfully managing complex programs, fostering partnerships, and aligning cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.

You will play a key role in advancing tax-integrated retirement moments (e.g., tax-time contributions, account linking, and Saver’s Match enablement), ensuring experiences are coordinated across digital and assisted channels. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to translate business objectives into executable plans, drive technical and operational readiness, and deliver a cohesive, customer-centric retirement experience spanning both tax and banking platforms.

Planning & Execution | Develop and manage project plans aligned to the partnership roadmap, including tax season readiness and key capability rollouts (e.g., account opening, contributions).

Customer Experience & Tax Journeys | Consolidate end-to-end customer journeys across tax platforms, including onboarding, tax-time contributions, Saver’s Match, and ongoing engagement.

Risk, Compliance & Readiness | Identify and track mitigations of risks across technical integration, tax implications, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate operational readiness across tax teams, and partner support models.

Learning Agenda & Insights | Support execution of the retirement learning agenda by helping teams evaluate key questions related to adoption, tax-integrated contributions, and engagement outcomes.
