Grant/Research student employment opportunity available.
To provide technical laboratory assistance on an externally funded research project (AHA) designed to investigate signal transduction pathways that regulate mitochondrial function in Drosophila model system and mammalian tissues and cells. The technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks including Drosophila husbandry, tissue dissection and processing, western blotting, immunostaining, and molecular biology techniques. They will also manage basic laboratory procedures such as ordering and make solutions and help manuscript writing.
Ability to work up to 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week
Principal Responsibilities
  • Analyze data and draw appropriate conclusions.
  • Manage Drosophila stocks. This responsibility includes making fly food, genotyping, maintaining records and transferring flies to fresh vial.
  • Assist with dissections on laboratory animals.
  • Prepare reagents, wash glassware, and other general laboratory duties.

  • Must be capable of working with little direct supervision.

Must be enrolled as an ONU student
