Job Description:

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a part-time adjunct instructor for economics. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; academically advise students; attend faculty development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences as needed. Further requirements include assisting with recruitment, retention, job placement efforts, and sustaining a credible advisory board for the program. This position is on campus and requires day and evening instruction. This position is part-time/ exempt.

Please note the following information regarding this position:

  • May be required to teach high school students

  • May require occasional weekends

  • May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)

  • May require travel

Responsibilities

  • Organizes and conducts classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities

  • Ensures adherence to technical college safety requirements in classrooms by following established procedures

  • Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives

  • Follows state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives

  • Ensure consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate course work

  • Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward students

  • Demonstrates current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas to be taught

  • Communicates students' progress to students and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines

  • Accurately records pertinent information in students' records as required

  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports and submits in a timely manner

  • Shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures

  • Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for when or when absent; uses work time appropriately

  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature

  • Effective written and oral communication

  • General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)

  • Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs, philosophy, and purpose of Columbus Technical College

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in economics

-OR-

  • A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a concentration a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in economics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems.

  • Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data.
