Job Title: Director of Ecommerce
Location: San Francisco, CA / Hybrid
Reports to: CEO
About the Role
We are seeking a data-driven Director of Ecommerce to lead and grow our client’s digital retail business. This individual will oversee our largest revenue channel and combine strategic leadership with hands-on ownership of our ecommerce platform, tools, and performance. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the customer journey, thrives on data-backed decision-making, and can inspire a high-performing team to deliver a best-in-class digital experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead ecommerce strategy and execution, including site performance, conversion, and merchandising. Own all aspects of the ecommerce P&L and drive optimization to meet financial goals.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team focused on both strategic growth and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across merchandising, logistics, creative, engineering, and wholesale to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Partner with data analytics to leverage insights across marketing, merchandising, testing, and customer journey improvements. Maintain clean and accurate ecommerce data pipelines for product, customer, and order information.
  • Drive platform innovation and evaluate new tools and features that enhance scalability, automation, and personalization.
  • Oversee and optimize the ecommerce tech stack (e.g., Shopify Plus, post-purchase tools, reviews, personalization, integrations).
  • Act as primary liaison with external developers, analytics providers, and platform partners to maintain and improve site performance.
  • Ensure site security, compliance, and uptime in collaboration with technical teams.
  • Optimize digital experiences—including virtual try-on and lifecycle programs—to enhance both new and repeat customer engagement.
  • Lead organic and paid search strategies in partnership with external agencies.
  • Oversee other digital sales channels, including:
  • Managing and expanding the Amazon business profitably.
  • Developing and testing international growth strategies.
Qualifications
  • 9+ years of ecommerce or digital leadership experience, ideally in retail, consumer goods, or similar industries.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, feedback-driven environment and enjoys solving complex business problems.
  • A hands-on leader who can shift seamlessly between strategic vision and tactical execution.
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Deep experience with Shopify Plus and related third-party apps, with comfort operating within a Shopify ecosystem.
  • Analytical mindset with fluency in tools such as Google Analytics, GA4, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Proven record of using data to drive ecommerce growth and improve customer experience.
  • Familiarity with APIs, integrations, and collaboration with development teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Salary: $175-200K
