Job description

Overview
The Creative Senior Director leads the development and execution of integrated, customer-centric creative across marketing channels including social, audio, programmatic, email, SMS/Push, store, and site/app. This role translates brand strategy into compelling visual and verbal campaign narratives that drive customer engagement and business impact.
Reporting to the VP, Brand Marketing, this role leads and develops a team of 20+ creative professionals and partners cross-functionally to ensure creative output aligns with brand standards, business goals, and performance objectives. Supporting a business generating approximately $8.8B+ in annual revenue and operating 500+ stores nationwide alongside a growing e-commerce presence, the Creative Senior Director oversees internal teams and several external agencies, driving creative quality and impact, consistency, and operational efficiency while managing a significant production budget.

Essential Functions
Creative Direction
  • Lead concept development and execution of integrated campaigns across digital, social, in-store, and owned channels
  • Leverage industry trends, cultural insights, and emerging channels to inform forward-thinking creative direction, continuously innovating our approaches
  • Ensure all work is on-brand, customer-focused, and aligned to business objectives
  • Oversee creative from concept through final delivery, maintaining high standards of execution
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to elevate creative quality
  • Oversee brand voice, tone, and messaging across customer touchpoints
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Marketing, Media, Merchandising, Stores, E-commerce, CRM & other cross-functional leadership
  • Align creative work with channel strategies, media plans, and performance goals
  • Support campaign planning and ensure alignment on direction, timelines, and deliverables
Team & Agency Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of designers, copywriters, and creative professionals
  • Drive a shift toward best-in-class socially-native, digital content creation that builds relevance among specific target cohorts at scale
  • Foster a culture of creativity by inspiring teams to push boundaries, challenge conventions, and elevate the quality of creative output
  • Oversee agency production partners, including briefing, creative direction, and output quality
  • Support prioritization, resourcing, and workload management
Budget & Operations
  • Manage a creative production budget
  • Allocate resources to maximize efficiency and impact
  • Partner with Finance and Procurement to plan, track, and optimize spend
  • Drive improvements in creative workflows and processes, including agile ways of working
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency and automation in creative work to maximize team resources against the most strategic and important work

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Copywriting, or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in creative roles (agency or in-house)
  • Experience in retail, grocery, or CPG environments
  • Proven ability to lead creative transformation from a work, team and talent perspective
  • Experience leading integrated, multi-channel campaigns
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development and art direction, including broadcast video
  • Experience guiding both design and copywriting disciplines
  • Proven experience managing teams and external agencies
  • Experience managing budgets and aligning creative investment to outcomes
  • Strong understanding of brand systems, storytelling, and content strategy
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, including effectively influencing at senior levels
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
