Job description

I. Position Description

The Commercial Coordinator is an entry-level rotational development role within Ecobat's North American Commercial organization. This position is designed to develop future Commercial Analysts, Metal Buyers, Transportation Coordinators, and commercial leaders through structured exposure to procurement, logistics, customer account management, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP).

Over a 12-to-24-month period, the successful candidate will rotate through multiple commercial functions, gaining hands-on experience in commodity procurement, transportation operations, customer fulfillment, market analysis, and cross-functional decision-making. The role provides direct exposure to suppliers, carriers, manufacturing operations, and commercial leadership while building the technical and analytical skills required for long-term career growth within Ecobat.

This position reports to the Director of North America Commercial.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Development

  • Participate in a structured rotational development program across Metal Buying, Transportation, Customer Account Management, and Commercial Analytics functions.
  • Learn commercial operations through hands-on assignments, job shadowing, project participation, and exposure to customer, supplier, and carrier interactions.
  • Develop knowledge of commodity markets, recycling operations, supply chain management, and S&OP processes.
  • Support business continuity by providing backup support for team members during planned absences.


Metal Buying & Procurement

  • Support Metal Buyers in tracking scrap and spent battery purchasing activity against production requirements.
  • Monitor commodity market pricing, industry indexes, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Assist in the analysis of purchasing trends and historical pricing data to support commercial decisions.
  • Coordinate supplier onboarding activities and maintain compliance records through approved company systems.
  • Utilize SAP and other business systems to support reporting, performance reviews, and purchasing analysis.

Transportation & Logistics

  • Assist with the coordination of inbound and outbound transportation activities across Ecobat facilities.
  • Track shipment status, delivery performance, and carrier service metrics.
  • Support freight invoice review and reconciliation against contractual and negotiated rates.
  • Help maintain transportation records, carrier compliance documentation, and logistics performance reporting.
  • Escalate operational delays or service disruptions to appropriate team members to ensure timely resolution.

Customer Account Management

  • Support the fulfillment of customer orders across lead, plastic, and byproduct product lines.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and prioritized appropriately.
  • Monitor key service metrics, including order fulfillment and on-time delivery performance.
  • Assist in customer communications related to order status, shipment timing, and service requests.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing service levels and customer satisfaction.

Commercial Analysis & Cross-Functional Support

  • Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes to understand how customer demand, production planning, purchasing activity, and logistics decisions are aligned.
  • Assist in preparing reports, performance dashboards, and commercial analyses for leadership review.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, Procurement, Transportation, and Finance teams on business initiatives and improvement projects.
  • Support data collection, analysis, and process improvement efforts that drive operational and commercial performance.

III. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Preferred

  • Internship, co-op, or early career experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, or commercial operations.
  • Exposure to SAP, ERP, TMS, or data analytics tools.
  • Interest in commodity markets, industrial operations, recycling, or supply chain management.
