Job description

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week 

Role Overview:

As a Senior Business/Technical Analyst within the Tech Data AI Ventures team at New York Life, you will serve as a key liaison between business and technology teams, ensuring business needs are translated into scalable and effective technology solutions. You will support initiatives across internal and external systems, leveraging a holistic understanding of products, processes, enterprise wide application eco-system, data, and integrations to drive successful outcomes.

In this role, you will analyze business needs and processes, assess end to end impacts in the application eco-systems, by collaborating with business and technology teams, to define business requirements and translate them into functional and system requirements. You will be responsible for prioritization and refinement of backlog in line with definition of ready and support validation aligned to definition of done, to ensure solutions meet business, compliance, and technical expectations. Success requires strong experience in business and systems analysis, requirements gathering across systems, data mapping (database and API integrations), and knowledge of life insurance products and operations.

This position is suited for an experienced analyst with 7+ years of experience who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is interested in contributing to complex and innovative enterprise-wide initiatives, including new insurance product launches, enhancements, enterprise master data and application management and modernization initiatives.

What You'll Do:

As a partner to both business and technology stakeholders, you will:

Collaborate with and liaison between business and technology teams, driving communication and alignment on requirements and deliverables, including dependency/impact across application eco-systems.

Champion shift left processes to reduce requirement and design gaps, by coordinating with upstream and downstream applications teams to ensure business requirements are clearly understood.

Elicit, analyze, and document business processes, workflows, and requirements using workshops, walkthroughs, and use case analysis.

Translate business needs into clear, complete, and testable functional specifications aligned with enterprise standards.

Act as subject matter expert to provide guidance and direction to remove roadblocks

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable solutions, incorporating data mapping and API integration considerations.

Support validation and testing efforts to ensure solutions meet business, compliance, and technical requirements.

Troubleshoot issues, provide analysis, and recommend solutions to address business and system challenges.

Support project delivery by tracking milestones and ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time.

Contribute to Agile delivery by managing user stories lifecycle (prioritization, refinement, validation & acceptance), sprint activities using JIRA and Confluence.

Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and system integration to enhance operational efficiency.

What You'll Bring:

You bring strong experience in business and technical analysis, with the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions. You have hands-on experience as business analyst/product owner, with enterprise scale projects impacting multiple applications, data mapping and a working knowledge of APIs and system integrations.

You are analytical and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills that enable you to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your experience in life insurance or related domains allows you to quickly understand business context and contribute meaningful insights.

You are organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities while working both independently and as part of a team.

Required Skills:

7+ years of business and/or technical analysis experience

Knowledge of life insurance products, processes, and operations

Experience with delivery of enterprise-scale projects/initiatives. Relevant experience in enterprise master data management projects is a plus

Strong data mapping, translation/standardization and data analysis skills in complex application eco-systems with a multi-tier architectures consisting of web and legacy applications.

Experience working in Agile environments using JIRA and Confluence

Working knowledge of API concepts, integrations, and system interfaces

Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based solutions is a plus

Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Skills:

Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies on complex projects

Experience with life insurance products and business processes, across different product types (Term, Whole Life, Universal and Variable Life)

Familiarity with annuity, long-term care, disability insurance products

Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, or a related field

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $81,000-$115,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
