Job description
This role is responsible for maintaining a professional, clean, and efficient equipment operation across Academy training sessions, home matches, away travel, and special events. The Temporary Academy Equipment Manager will work closely with Academy leadership, coaches, athletic training staff, operations personnel, and players to ensure teams are properly equipped and prepared.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced soccer environment, comfortable with physical work outdoors, and available to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory of Academy training apparel, match kits, outerwear, footwear, field equipment, and related supplies.
- Organize, issue, collect, launder, and maintain player and staff training gear, match gear, and equipment.
- Prepare and distribute daily training equipment, including balls, bibs, cones, mannequins, goals, pinnies, hydration supplies, and other required materials.
- Assist with training-field setup and breakdown for Academy teams, ensuring equipment is ready before each session and properly stored afterward.
- Prepare home-match equipment and locker-room needs, including match uniforms, warm-up gear, player numbers, captain's armbands, balls, hydration, benches, and field supplies.
- Support away-match and tournament travel preparation by packing, labeling, loading, tracking, and unpacking all required equipment and apparel.
- Ensure match kits are properly prepared, clean, organized, and compliant with Academy, MLS NEXT, league, tournament, and club requirements.
- Monitor equipment condition and report damaged, missing, or unsafe items to Academy leadership.
- Maintain organized storage areas, equipment rooms, laundry spaces, and team bench or technical-area equipment.
- Coordinate closely with coaches and Academy operations staff regarding upcoming training sessions, matches, travel, events, and seasonal equipment needs.
- Support the professional standards and presentation of Nashville SC Academy apparel, facilities, and matchday operations.
- Follow all Nashville SC policies, safety procedures, safeguarding expectations, and standards of conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of Nashville SC and the Academy.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Work occurs in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Regular exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, and other outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours based on the Academy training and competition schedule.
- Ability to travel periodically for away matches, tournaments, showcases, or Academy events.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading equipment.
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Position may require early mornings, late nights, and extended hours during tournament weekends or travel periods.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in equipment operations, team operations, event operations, athletics, facilities, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with coaches, players, staff, and vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet Nashville SC driving and vehicle-use requirements.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and email for inventory tracking and routine communication.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive team or player information professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in soccer, professional sports, collegiate athletics, youth sports, or an elite player-development environment.
- Familiarity with MLS NEXT, ECNL, U.S. Soccer, academy soccer, or high-performance team environments.
- Experience with apparel ordering, inventory systems, laundry operations, or equipment management.
- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, or SafeSport certification is a plus.
- Experience working with adolescent athletes and an understanding of a player-centered Academy environment.
