Job description

Job Description:
Bring your pediatric critical care expertise to a nationally recognized health system where experienced APPs help shape care for children with the most complex cardiac conditions. At Intermountain Health, our mission-"helping people live the healthiest lives possible"-guides how we support patients, families, and one another.
About the Role
You will join our interdisciplinary Pediatric Critical Care team within the Heart Center at Primary Children's Hospital, with a primary focus on the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU). You will care for patients from newborn through early adulthood in a high-acuity, quaternary referral environment serving families across the Intermountain West.
This opportunity is designed for an accomplished APP who is ready to bring sound clinical judgment, advanced procedural skills, and calm leadership to rapidly evolving situations. You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with other APPs, intensivists, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, nurses, respiratory therapists, perfusionists, pharmacists, and other specialists-practicing at the top of your license while helping deliver coordinated, family-centered care.
What You'll Do
  • Assess and manage critically ill pediatric cardiac patients across the continuum of intensive care.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in partnership with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Perform high-acuity procedures within your scope and privileges, including endotracheal intubation and chest tube placement.
  • Participate in the management of ECMO and mechanical circulatory support devices.
  • Recognize and respond decisively to complex, rapidly changing clinical conditions.
  • Communicate clearly with patients' families and coordinate care across specialties and transitions.
  • Contribute your experience to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, team learning, and the continued advancement of the program.

Schedule
This is a full-time position averaging three 12-hour shifts per week. Because the CICU provides care around the clock, the schedule includes days, nights, weekends, and some holidays. Additional shifts may be available during respiratory season based on patient volume and department needs.
How we'll support you:
You'll receive a base salary commensurate with your years of APP experience. You will also be eligible for quality incentive, schedule burden, and extra shift pay.
We care about your wellbeing which is why we provide our caregivers with a generous benefits package. In addition, we offer paid time off, license reimbursement, malpractice insurance coverage, and an annual CME allowance to support your continuous growth and development.
What you'll bring:
  • Utah license as a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
  • Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Utah State Controlled Substance License
  • Federal DEA Certificate II through V
  • PALS and BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers
  • 1+ years of clinical inpatient pediatric and/or cardiology experience
