Job Summary/Purpose

The Vascular / Echo Technologist coordinates and assists in all activities performed in the vascular lab, maintains reports, records, and collects statistics. The Vascular / Echo Technologist ensures delivery of quality vascular ultrasound studies, acts as an education resource, ensures that all equipment is functioning properly, and performs vascular examinations. The Vascular / Echo Technologist correlates patient’s symptoms and clinical findings with observed results, provides written, unofficial reports of examination, takes representative anatomical pictures and recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy. The tech also assists in performing quality improvement studies and conducts Quality Control procedures.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

·        Provides appropriate age specific and culturally oriented patient care to population served.

·        Coordinates and assists in all activities performed in the vascular lab

·        Maintains reports, records, and collects statistics

·        All patient reports are filed and maintained for easy retrieval on a daily basis

·        Lab statistics are given to director on a bimonthly basis

·        Ensures delivery of quality vascular ultrasound studies. Acts as an educational resource

·        Quality of vascular studies is monitored continuously

·        Assists with orientation of new staff or students as requested

·        Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly

·        Performs vascular examinations

·        All studies are performed as scheduled whenever possible

·        Correlates patient’s symptoms and clinical finding with observed results

·        Notifies physician immediately when clinical symptoms and test results reveal a positive outcome

·        Writes a technical finding on each study performed

·        Takes representative anatomical pictures and recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy

·        Assists in performing quality improvement studies

·        Performs QA reports at least quarterly.

·        Conducts Quality Control procedures

·        Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment.

·        Ensures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.

Role Minimum Qualifications

Required Education

·        Associates degree from appropriate program based on license

Required Licensure and Certifications                -At Hire

·        Current ARRT licensure as a Registered Radiologic Technologist in good standing or

·        Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) with relevant cardiovascular imaging experience or

·        Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification through ARDMS or

·        Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification through ARDMS or CCI or

·        Graduate of an accredited Echo/Vascular program

·        BLS
