Salary Information: Minimum for Academic Year 2026-2027, $2,053 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience.
Other Conditions:
  • For lecturer applicant pool, part-time, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements.
  • The UHWO ECE program is taught entirely online through Laulima. Must be available for in-person meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach assigned courses in Early Childhood Education online
  2. Maintain "office hours" availability by phone conferences or "chat rooms" on a regular basis, and by student request.
  3. Prepare course syllabi and course resources related to teaching and student progress.
  4. Work under the supervision of UHWO ECE faculty to maintain continuity of instruction and expectations across ECE courses.
  5. As needed, work with UHWO distance education to facilitate instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in Early Childhood Education
  2. One to Three years experience as practitioner in ECE (childcare, preschool, ECE policy, advocacy or curriculum development).
  3. Solid knowledge base in child development and DAP (developmentally appropriate practice)
  4. Familiarity with Laulima and other online technologies.
  5. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness with adult learners.
  6. Basic knowledge of research in ECE.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Ph.D in Early Childhood Education.
  2. Five years or more experience as practitioner in ECE (childcare, preschool, ECE policy, advocacy or curriculum development).
  3. Knowledge of child development, DAP, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, emergent curriculum, project approach and other ECE programs/curriculums.
  4. Teaching experience at the college level.
  5. Competency using Laulima and other online technologies.
  6. Knowledge of and interest in conducting research in ECE.
