Job description

Primary Purpose and Function

Responsible for the general oversight of all meal and nutrition related aspects of programming and patientโ€™s nutritional care and services.โ€ฏ Additionally responsible for providing nutrition assessment and counseling to patients.โ€ฏ Coordinate care with clinical and medical treatment team to assist in treatment plans for patients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstratedcompetencyin the use of Microsoft Office and theability to use various software programs
  • Experience and literacy with Electronic Medical Records systems and medical practice software
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check (Federal and state)
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends & holidays as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Graduate of an accredited Dietetics program
  • Current RD license in good standing with WA State Certification
  • Must possess current and active WA State Food Handlerโ€™s Permit, or obtain one within the firsttwo (2)weeks of hire

Addendum A: Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nutritional care for patients in residential,PHPand IOPprograms, including, but not limitedtonutrition assessments, care planning, monitoring and evaluation, and enteral nutrition therapy (residential only);โ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Coordinate weekly meetings with patients to develop meal plans and establish/assess nutrition goals using a HAES (Health at Every Size) approach.โ€ฏ
  • Monitor and assist patients with meal preparation/planningโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Support with the development ofโ€ฏmealโ€ฏand snackโ€ฏmenusโ€ฏfor PHP and residential patientsโ€ฏthat would positively impact treatment of anxiety,โ€ฏdepression, and eating disordersโ€ฏ
  • Supportโ€ฏthe development ofโ€ฏand leadโ€ฏweekly nutrition education groups for patientsโ€ฏand parents/caregiversโ€ฏ
  • Maintain all nutritional data for patients in EMR patient chartsโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Communicate with outside providers and patient family membersโ€ฏregardingโ€ฏnutritionalโ€ฏinformationโ€ฏas neededโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Coordinate patient care with multidisciplinary teamโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • Provideโ€ฏregularโ€ฏmeal & snack monitoringโ€ฏ
  • Ensure maintenanceofkitchenโ€ฏcleanliness and organizationโ€ฏโ€ฏโ€ฏ
  • All other duties as assigned

Working Environment

Work is performed primarily indoors, with both artificial and natural lighting. Equipment includes standard office equipment, i.e. computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, printer, and scanner. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending over, repetitive use of hands, and lifting up to 25lbs. Position requires close contact with all THIRA Health staff and mental health patients. Hours and days can vary within a Saturday through Friday week.
