Role Description

This full-time Eating Disorder Therapist position will provide specialized therapeutic services to individuals experiencing eating disorders and co-occurring mental health and/or substance use concerns.

The therapist will provide individual, group, and family therapy while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide comprehensive and coordinated care.

Responsibilities include conducting clinical assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, facilitating evidence-based individual and group therapy, completing timely clinical documentation, participating in treatment team meetings, and coordinating care with medical providers, dietitians, psychiatrists, families, and outside providers when appropriate.

The therapist will work with individuals experiencing conditions including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED, disordered eating behaviors, body-image concerns, and related mental health conditions.

The therapist will also provide psychoeducation to clients and families, assist with crisis prevention and intervention, monitor clinical progress, and support clients in developing healthier relationships with food, body image, emotional regulation, and recovery.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related behavioral health field.
• Licensed or license-eligible mental health professional in the State of New Jersey, such as LCSW, LSW, LPC, LAC, LMFT, or equivalent credential.
• Previous experience treating individuals with eating disorders and/or disordered eating behaviors strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of eating disorder diagnoses, symptoms, risk factors, levels of care, and treatment approaches.
• Familiarity with evidence-based eating disorder treatment modalities such as CBT/CBT-E, DBT, ACT, Family-Based Treatment (FBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches is preferred.
• Experience providing individual and group therapy.
• Experience working with co-occurring mental health and/or substance use disorders is preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and documentation skills.
• Ability to recognize clinical and medical concerns associated with eating disorders and appropriately collaborate with medical and nutritional professionals.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, including therapists, medical providers, psychiatric providers, dietitians, case managers, and support staff.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and active-listening skills.
• Commitment to compassionate, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and non-discriminatory care.
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, client confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer systems.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work on-site as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized training or certification in the treatment of eating disorders.
• Experience working within a PHP, IOP, OP, residential, or other behavioral health treatment setting.
• Experience treating individuals with complex or co-occurring diagnoses.
• Experience facilitating eating disorder-specific therapeutic and psychoeducational groups.
• Experience collaborating with registered dietitians, psychiatric providers, and medical professionals as part of an interdisciplinary eating disorder treatment team.
