What You'll Do:

As a Patient Care Specialist, you'll be on the front lines, offering unwavering support and guidance. Your days will be filled with purpose as you:

  • Champion Patients: Provide validation, unconditional positive regard, and skillful coaching to help patients navigate challenges and utilize their strengths.
  • Be a Trusted Confidante: Understand and maintain the confidential nature of all patient activities, building a foundation of trust.
  • Grow and Learn: Participate in all training, education, and staff enrichment activities, aligning with our philosophy, mission, and objectives.
  • Model Excellence: Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate and positive behavior with professionalism, warmth, and genuine care.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Share vital patient progress information with the treatment team and attend meetings as needed, ensuring seamless care.
  • Cultivate a Welcoming Environment: Maintain an inviting, tidy, and clean facility, ensuring supplies are always at hand.
  • Empower Through Education: Support clinicians and co-lead groups, documenting content, skills taught, and patient participation.
  • Guide and Inspire: Manage milieu behavior, developing, following, and modifying rewards and consequences using a proven point and level system.
  • Foster Healthy Habits: Actively participate in group meals, supervising, managing, and role-modeling positive eating behaviors.
  • Build Meaningful Connections: Balance building rapport with patients while fostering their comfort and confidence.
  • Master Behavioral Techniques: Learn and apply effective behavior techniques to manage ineffective behaviors consistently and with compassion.
  • Ensure Safe Transport: Safely transport patients to and from appointments or activities in a company vehicle, adhering to all safety, transportation, and patient care protocols, and maintaining vehicle condition.
  • Contribute to a Greater Cause: Perform additional duties as assigned, supporting the overall mission of our treatment center.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from a four-year college/university, OR
  • Two years of experience working within the mental health field or a residential treatment setting, OR
  • Two years of experience working with children in an educational field.
  • Comfort eating meals in a group setting and the ability to model positive eating habits.
  • The ability to provide or obtain a San Diego County food handler's permit upon hire.
  • The ability to provide or obtain CPR / BLS certification within 2 weeks of employment.
  • At least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • The ability to safely transport patients as needed using a company vehicle, ensuring their well-being and compliance with all safety and transportation protocols.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on facility needs.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

You'll thrive in a clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated medical facility. This role involves regular communication, use of hands and fingers, and occasional standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. You may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. While the noise level is usually moderate, you may be exposed to some hazards such as bodily fluids that may contain disease. Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
