Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation Services (Outpatient)

We're looking for a Physical Therapist to take on a full-time direct hire role in Alpena, MI. You will evaluate, plan, and deliver patient-focused physical therapy services in primarily outpatient settings with occasional float to acute care. Apply and a recruiter will follow up with details.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA.
  • Active Michigan state license or other state license required to start the position. Compact licensure not accepted.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within one month of hire.
  • Ability to complete facility-specific orientation and new hire competency requirements.
  • Experience in outpatient physical therapy. Experience with occasional acute care float preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, aides, and students per regulatory standards.
  • Ability to perform medium physical demands: occasional lift/carry up to 21–50 lbs., frequent 20 lbs., and constant 10 lbs.; frequent sitting/standing/walking and postural changes.
  • Ability to work scheduled days: Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with a weekend rotation approximately one per month.
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patient function using formal and informal assessments to determine musculoskeletal, neurological, respiratory, and cardiovascular status.
  • Develop and document goal-specific treatment plans consistent with physician orders and clinical standards. Update plans as patient status changes.
  • Provide treatment interventions aimed at restoring or maximizing function through exercise, modalities, education, and other interventions.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding condition, prognosis, and home programs. Demonstrate and teach treatment routines.
  • Provide supervision and delegation to PTAs, aides, home health aides, and students. Co-sign verbal orders from PTAs as required.
  • Complete documentation required for clinical care and billing in compliance with affiliate and regulatory policies.
  • Recommend and assist in securing adaptive/supportive equipment when indicated.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, program development, and community education activities.
  • Maintain competency with Microsoft Windows and participate in mandatory annual training such as OSHA and bloodborne pathogen protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a multi-setting health system or with both outpatient and acute care patients.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to customer service, quality, and teamwork consistent with employer values.
