Job Title: QA TechnicianJob Description

This role focuses on ensuring the consistent quality of tortilla products by performing both on-floor and laboratory-based testing. You will work 12-hour shifts on your feet, monitoring production lines, checking product quality, and verifying that packaging and labeling meet established standards. The position operates in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to procedures are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Perform hourly quality checks on tortillas directly on the production floor to ensure they meet established standards for appearance, texture, and consistency.
  • Conduct laboratory tests on the dough to verify its consistency and composition, following defined procedures and documenting all results accurately.
  • Inspect product labels to confirm that the correct product is placed in the proper packaging and that all information is accurate and legible.
  • Maintain detailed written logs and records of quality checks and test results every hour, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and easy to understand.
  • Monitor production processes to identify deviations from quality standards and promptly report issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Work closely with team members on the production line to coordinate testing activities and support smooth and efficient production.
  • Follow all quality assurance, quality control, and food safety procedures while working on the floor and in the lab.
  • Adhere to all manufacturing and inspection protocols, including proper handling of products and materials.
  • Remain on your feet for the full 12-hour shift while working in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment.
  • Support a clean and organized work area by following facility guidelines for cleanliness and safety.
Essential Skills
  • At least 6 months of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced, repetitive production setting.
  • Experience in production, quality assurance, quality technician work, quality control, or inspection within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to complete written logs and communicate with coworkers in the plant.
  • Comfort working on your feet for the entire 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to perform detailed inspections and tests with strong attention to accuracy and consistency.
  • Comfort working in hot conditions and dusty environments with flour and wheat present.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous QA or quality assurance experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing facility.
  • Experience working as part of a small team on a production line.
  • Familiarity with food production processes and inspection procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills for maintaining hourly logs and documentation.
Why Work Here?

You will join a facility that offers significant overtime opportunities and a supportive, team-based work environment. The culture emphasizes collaboration on the production line, with employees working closely in small teams to meet shared goals. The workplace values reliability, strong work ethic, and clear communication, providing stability and consistent hours for those who thrive in a fast-paced setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that produces tortillas and operates 12-hour shifts, specifically on second shift from 3:15 p.m. to 3:15 a.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is fast paced, repetitive, and physically demanding, requiring you to remain on your feet throughout the shift. The plant can be very hot, especially in the summer, with temperatures reaching up to 120 degrees, and the air is dusty with flour and wheat, so you must be comfortable working in extreme heat and dusty conditions. You will work in teams of two to three people per production line, using production and lab equipment to perform quality assurance and inspection tasks. A large percentage of the facility workforce speaks Spanish, and clear English communication is required for writing hourly logs and coordinating with others.
