Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Location: Thomas Pump, Carrollton GA

Position Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for preparing orders for shipment, completing all necessary paperwork, obtaining the best rate quotes, and ensuring the accuracy of the orders. Duties include receiving, storing, and distributing deliveries, as well as stocking and restocking items in their proper locations. The employee will also pick customer orders and ensure the accuracy of selected items and quantities. Safety, organization, and housekeeping responsibilities are integral to the position. The employee will adhere to all Thomas Pump & Machinery rules and procedures related to this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Unload delivery trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment.

• Receive delivered products and label them appropriately for easy retrieval.

• Distribute packages and mail to company recipients.

• Store materials and components for future use.

• Prepare orders for shipment, ensuring the accuracy of the shipment and associated shipping documents.

• Operate and inspect material handling equipment safely.

• Review inbound shipments and verify items and quantities before signing Bill of Lading and receiving documentation; report any discrepancies to the Purchasing Agent.  

• Review and verify items from production and place them into the proper stock location.

• Stock and restock items in their proper locations as needed.

• Load and unload trucks as instructed.

• Verify inventory counts and perform physical inventory checks as required.

• Move materials in and out of work areas and the warehouse as needed.

• Identify and label boxes, packages, and products.

• Maintain a neat and organized work area.

• Report any inefficient or unsafe conditions to management upon discovery.

• Complete all paperwork accurately.

• Perform all work using safety equipment and obey all safety rules and procedures.

• Work overtime as needed for critical shipments and as scheduled by management.

• Occasionally assist other employees in various areas of the facility as needed.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Proficiency with automated shipping documents and labeling equipment.

• Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and handle or feel objects regularly.

• Familiarity with common hand tools and occasionally sharp tools.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.

• Capacity to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Reasonable accommodation will be made if necessary, provided they do not cause undue hardship to the company.

• Willingness to work overtime as required.
