Job Summary:
Government Tactical Solutions, LLC is seeking a Technical Writer to join their CACI - Naval X department. The role involves producing, proof-reading, editing, and formatting various technical documents, including manuals and procedures, while ensuring clarity and usability for end-users.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Edit and format information for consumption through various media channels to include printed materials, scripted voice content, email, websites, and other electronic access points.
โ€ข Write technical [prototype] manuals, training manuals, and standard operating procedures for prototypes undergoing CONOP development.
โ€ข Ensure that Technical Data Packages (TDPs) are prepared and delivered for assigned projects that reach the prototype or low-rate production stages of development. Assist in the development of the TDP.
โ€ข Create and maintain basic briefs for various prototype devices and coordinate test event support and participate in planning meetings.
โ€ข Prepare and deliver Test Plans and Test Results for both functional and operational tests for assigned projects.
โ€ข Travel as needed to support test events. The contractor shall operate test units, monitoring devices, and associated equipment.
โ€ข Interact with and coordinate prototype and low-rate production with external parties tasked with producing units for assigned projects.
โ€ข Provide routine status updates and communicate urgent matters involving production issues to management and other stakeholders in a timely manner via phone, email, or other normal communication methods.
โ€ข Manage inventory documentation for ordering and incoming material, and general organization of lab inventory.
โ€ข Write lab SOPs for equipment, including Hazard Analysis of procedures. These are standard Crane SOPs and written to that standard.
โ€ข Obtain and maintain certification in Hazard Analysis and Non-Ordnance SOP Writing via NSWC Crane offered training.
โ€ข Demonstrate competent writing and oral communication skills.
โ€ข Be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal oversight and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with technical concepts and terminology.
โ€ข Focus on end-userโ€™s needs and ensure the documentation is intuitive and easy to follow. Conduct usability testing and gather user feedback for continuous documentation improvement.
โ€ข Manage documentation lifecycle and maintain documentation product updates/changes. Archive outdated documents and ensure the latest versions are readily available.
โ€ข Utilize documentation tools and software to create and manage documents. Incorporate multimedia elements (videos, images, diagrams) to enhance understanding if/when applicable.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข A-BET accredited Bachelorโ€™s Degree in STEM / technical / engineering discipline
โ€ข Minimum 3 years of experience in a position requiring STEM / technical / engineering expertise
โ€ข Eligibility for a SECRET clearance
โ€ข Experience prepping TDPs
โ€ข Experience with Hazard Analysis
โ€ข Excellent technical writing and data presentation skills
โ€ข Track record of complex problem-solving aptitude
โ€ข Ability to think analytically and independently
โ€ข Team orientated
โ€ข Excellent problem-solving skills
โ€ข Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in written form
โ€ข Willingness to learn new skills
โ€ข Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
Preferred:
โ€ข 5-10 years technical writing experience or other related technical field
โ€ข Existing experience producing technical documentation for projects on IAC MAC task orders
โ€ข Experience in a technical writing position working with IAC MAC customers
โ€ข Experience in DoD customer relations and technical writing
โ€ข Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC)
โ€ข Active minimum Secret clearance
