Easy Contract information

What is an easy contract?

An Easy Contract job typically refers to a short-term or temporary work agreement that is straightforward, with minimal requirements or responsibilities. These jobs are often designed for quick hiring and can be suitable for people seeking flexible work or supplemental income. Examples may include data entry, simple administrative tasks, or light manual labor. The terms and conditions are usually clearly stated, making it easy for both employers and workers to understand expectations. Easy contract jobs are popular among students, freelancers, and those looking to gain work experience without a long-term commitment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Manager, you need expertise in contract law, negotiation, and risk assessment, typically supported by a degree in law, business, or a related field. Familiarity with contract management software, document management systems, and relevant certifications such as Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) is highly beneficial. Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills help in managing complex agreements and building positive stakeholder relationships. These skills ensure contracts are legally sound, compliant, and aligned with organizational goals, minimizing risk and maximizing value.

What are some common challenges faced by contract managers when negotiating and administering contracts?

Contract Managers often encounter challenges such as aligning the expectations of multiple stakeholders, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and managing tight deadlines. Additionally, they must be adept at resolving disputes, mitigating risks, and keeping thorough records throughout the contract lifecycle. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential, as the role frequently requires balancing the interests of clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Join our winning team!

As an SPP Contract Specialist, you will help move business forward by shaping clear, compliant, and commercially sound agreements for our promotional products business. Working with attorney supervision when needed, you will partner with internal teams and third parties to review, draft, and negotiate contracts, address contract questions, support regulatory research, and improve contracting processes. This is an opportunity to combine legal knowledge, business judgment, and practical problem-solving in a highly collaborative role with broad visibility across the organization.

What you will be doing:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements, including services, vendor, manufacturing, licensing, merchandising, and related contracts.

  • Lead contract discussions with counterparties, keeping timelines, open issues, and approvals moving toward resolution.

  • Help internal teams apply approved contract standards and route exceptions or higher-risk issues for attorney review.

  • Maintain accurate contract information in Staples contract management systems and support a centralized, accessible contract repository.

  • Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and summarize practical takeaways for attorney and business review.

  • Support training for internal teams on contract and legal topics, including updates arising from legal or process changes.

  • Analyze contract data, obligations, and performance indicators to identify risks, efficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Organize cross-functional contracting initiatives, ensuring stakeholders understand next steps, dependencies, and deadlines.

  • Exercise sound judgment within defined parameters, balancing business objectives with legal, financial, operational, and compliance considerations.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • A collaborative, service-oriented approach and the responsiveness to support multiple internal clients and priorities.

  • A practical, solutions-oriented mindset and the ability to use good judgment in fast-moving business situations.

  • Clear, concise communication skills and the ability to keep discussions productive, professional, and aligned on outcomes.

  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, and a results-focused approach to solving problems and moving complex work forward.

  • The ability to build trust across functions by translating complex information into practical, business-friendly guidance.

What's needed: Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 to 6 years of experience supporting commercial contracts.

  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts and a solid understanding of legal terminology and contract-formation principles.

  • Experience conducting legal or regulatory research and preparing clear summaries for business or legal audiences.

  • Experience managing multiple contract-related projects, priorities, or workstreams from intake through completion.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to learn and work effectively in internal and external databases.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with appropriate care and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paralegal certification.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience supporting eCommerce, marketing, sales, or promotional products businesses.

  • Experience using contract lifecycle management tools, contract data, or standardized templates to improve workflow consistency.

  • Demonstrated ability to transfer prior legal and business knowledge to new and changing fact patterns.

We Offer:

  • Inclusive culture with associate-led Business Resource Groups
  • Flexible PTO (22 days) and Holiday Schedule (7 observed paid holidays)
  • Online and Retail Discounts, Company Match 401(k), Physical and Mental Health Wellness programs, and more!
