Job Duties

To provide comprehensive treatment to patients adjudicated NGRI. This includes comprehensive risk assessment and risk management strategies as well as necessary forensic report writing for progression through the graduated privileging process. This role is responsible for initial and ongoing psychological assessments, individual treatment sessions to address relevant risk management issues and treatment issues, treatment planning through core membership on a treatment team, psychotherapy groups, as well as behavioral consultation and program development as needed. May provide supervision and training for students (intern and practicum).
Successful candidate should possess:
Experience with coordination of psychological services for each patient on caseload. Knowledge, skills, and abilities for the delivery of psychological practice and principals with a specific focus on risk assessment and risk management.
Knowledge of hospital/community/agency resources and ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary treatment team.
Understanding of those adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and the graduated privileging process, with specific emphasis on their respective treatment needs.
Knowledge of how persons with mental illness encounter the legal and criminal justice systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctoral Degree in Psychology.
License eligibility as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Additional Considerations

Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Forensic training through the Institute of Law, Psychiatry, and Public Policy (ILPPP).
