Job description

Overview

Since its founding in 1992, Edgewood Properties has established itself as a leading real estate development and property management company.

With corporate headquarters in New Jersey, the company is on a course of growth leading to activities across the nation. 

Given ongoing construction and development plans, our current apartment portfolio of 6,000 plus units is expected to double in the next couple of years and rise to over 12,000 units in the next five years.

Given our rapid portfolio growth, coupled with ownership's desire to develop and hold rather than sell, the timing is ideal for qualified candidates to come on-board.

We are currently seeking a Paving and Earthwork Forman to work in our Excavation Department. 

Position Overview

The Paving & Earthwork Foreman is responsible for directly leading a crew of operators and laborers in performing all paving operations and certain earthwork tasks when paving work is not scheduled.

This position is hands-on in the field, ensuring that crews work safely, efficiently, and meet quality expectations. The Foreman must be skilled in running paving equipment, heavy machinery, and overseeing day-to-day crew operations.

This position will work out of our South Plainfield, NJ office. 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crew Supervision
    • Direct and oversee operators and laborers during paving and earthwork tasks.
    • Assign work, monitor crew productivity, and maintain safety and quality standards.
    • Train and mentor crew members in paving and heavy equipment operations.
    • Ensure Equipment is well kept by all crew members and all repair work needs are reported.
  • Paving & Earthwork Operations
    • Lead all paving operations including asphalt placement, grading, compaction, and finish work.
    • Perform earthwork such as excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling.
    • Operate a paver and a wide variety of heavy equipment when required.
    • Drive and maintain a company truck equipped with all necessary paving tools.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Enforce company safety rules and OSHA regulations at all times.
    • Conduct daily safety checks and ensure PPE compliance.
    • Report safety issues immediately to Div Mgr. & Risk Management.
  • Quality Control
    • Inspect work during and after completion to verify it meets specifications.
    • Ensure proper techniques and materials are used in both paving and earthwork.
    • Communicate field needs or concerns to the Division Manager & General Super.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of paving and earthwork experience.
  • Strong ability to operate pavers and a wide variety of heavy equipment.
  • Experience supervising paving or excavation crews.
  • Knowledge of paving methods, materials, and best practices.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
