What is an earth element?

Earth elements, also known as the earth metals, typically refer to a group of chemical elements found in the Earth's crust. In chemistry, the term often relates to the alkaline earth metals, which include elements like magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, and radium. These elements are known for their reactivity and are commonly used in various industrial and biological applications. They are essential to life and play important roles in fields such as medicine, construction, and technology.

What are some typical challenges faced by environmental engineers when working on earth element-related projects?

Environmental engineers working on earth element projects often face challenges such as balancing sustainable resource extraction with environmental protection, complying with evolving regulations, and managing complex interdisciplinary teams. They may also encounter difficulties in communicating technical findings to non-expert stakeholders and ensuring that remediation or conservation efforts are both effective and cost-efficient. Staying updated on the latest technologies and best practices in soil science, geotechnical engineering, and environmental monitoring is essential for success in this role.

What is the difference between Earth Element vs Geotechnical Engineer?

AspectEarth ElementGeotechnical Engineer
Required CredentialsGeology degree, certifications in environmental or geological fieldsEngineering degree, PE license, geotechnical certifications
Work EnvironmentFieldwork, soil and rock analysis, environmental sitesDesign, analysis, and consulting on foundation and soil stability
Industry UsageConstruction, environmental consulting, geologyConstruction, civil engineering, infrastructure projects

Earth Element typically refers to natural soil and rock components, often in environmental or geological contexts. Geotechnical Engineers specialize in analyzing these materials for construction and engineering projects. While both roles involve soil and rock analysis, Earth Element is more about natural materials, whereas Geotechnical Engineers apply engineering principles to these materials for practical use.

Job description

🚀 Job Title: Technical Program Manager

📍 Location: San Leandro, CA

💼 Job Type: Full-time, On-site

We are partnered with a growing renewable energy company based in San Leandro, CA, specializing in critical mineral refining and rare earth element extraction. As the company continues to scale its commercialization efforts, they are urgently looking for a Technical Program Manager who can translate the technical roadmap into a clear, actionable schedule and drive execution across the organization.

This is a fully onsite and very hands-on / operations heavy role, as you will be responsible for delivering physical projects and must have a deep understanding on getting equipment from design & procurement through installation & commissioning. My client is looking for someone who is comfortable with PFDs / P&IDs, equipment, vendors, lead times, and project scheduling.

Responsibilities:

  • Program & Schedule Management: Own the master schedule across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, translating the technical roadmap into milestones, dependencies, and priorities.
  • Site Execution & Coordination: Coordinate engineering, procurement, EPC partners, and field operations while managing equipment procurement, site readiness, commissioning, and open issues across both sites.
  • Risk & Reporting: Manage technical and schedule risks, drive issues to resolution, and provide clear program updates and documentation to senior leadership, investors, and DOE/DoW stakeholders.

***MUST BE A US CITIZEN***

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree required. Master's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of running technical programs in a hardware, manufacturing, industrials, or process/chemical plant environment.
