Ea Financial information

What is an EA Financial?

EA Financial professionals typically refer to individuals who work in financial roles within companies or organizations, focusing on providing expert advice, managing financial records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The 'EA' can stand for Enrolled Agent, a tax advisor certified by the IRS, or it may refer to other financial professionals working in executive assistant or financial analyst roles. These professionals are responsible for preparing tax returns, representing clients before the IRS, analyzing financial data, and supporting financial decision-making. Their expertise helps organizations maintain accurate financial records and adhere to relevant laws and regulations.

How does an EA Financial typically collaborate with executives and finance teams to support organizational goals?

An EA Financial professional often acts as a bridge between senior executives and the finance department, managing schedules, preparing financial reports, and facilitating communication among stakeholders. They support budgeting, expense tracking, and may coordinate meetings where financial strategies are discussed. This role requires strong organizational skills, discretion with sensitive data, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration is key, as EA Financial professionals regularly liaise with team members across departments to ensure alignment on financial objectives and deadlines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Executive Assistant in a financial setting?

To thrive as an Executive Assistant in finance, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in business administration or finance. Familiarity with financial software (like Excel, QuickBooks, or Bloomberg Terminal), calendar management tools, and often certification such as CAP or MOS is valuable. Excellent communication, discretion, and proactive problem-solving set top performers apart in this role. These skills enable efficient executive support, accurate financial coordination, and confidentiality in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.

Job description

Tax Planning Advisor (EA or CPA)
Who We Are
Capita is an RIA firm growing at a fast pace. We focus on building long-lasting relationships with individuals, families, and business owners through comprehensive financial planning.
As part of our commitment to simplifying and strengthening the financial lives of our clients, we are expanding our in-house services to include tax strategies and preparation. This new role will play a foundational part in building that offering.
Job: Full-time: Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm
Location: Draper, UT
Help Build the Future of Tax at Capita
At Capita, we believe taxes are more than an annual filing - they're an essential part of a client's financial plan.
That's why we're building something different.
We're looking for an Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA who wants to do more than prepare tax returns. We're looking for someone who wants to help build a modern, integrated tax practice alongside our financial advisors.
This is an opportunity to help shape the future of tax services at Capita. You'll work directly with clients, partner with financial advisors on proactive tax planning, and have a meaningful voice in developing the processes, workflows, and client experience that will define our growing tax practice.
Because this role is part of our Centralized Planning Team (CPT), there is also an opportunity to broaden your impact over time. As our tax practice grows-and depending on your interests and strengths-you may have the opportunity to support broader financial planning initiatives beyond tax, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys continuous learning and wants to expand their expertise.
If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, improving how work gets done, taking ownership, and helping build something from the ground up, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
Build Trusted Client Relationships
  • Prepare and file individual and business federal and state tax returns accurately and on time.
  • Build strong relationships with clients through proactive communication and exceptional service.
  • Respond to IRS and state notices while keeping clients informed throughout the process.
  • Help clients understand how tax decisions impact their overall financial picture.

Partner in Financial Planning
  • Collaborate closely with Capita financial advisors to integrate tax planning into each client's financial plan.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities throughout the year-not just during tax season.
  • Recognize opportunities where clients may benefit from additional planning services.
  • Serve as a trusted resource to advisors and clients on tax-related planning decisions.

Help Build Our Tax Practice
  • Improve workflows, documentation, and internal processes.
  • Help create scalable systems that support the growth of our tax practice.
  • Share ideas that improve both the client and advisor experience.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and industry best practices.

Growth Opportunities
One of the unique aspects of this role is that it doesn't have to stop at tax.
As a member of Capita's Centralized Planning Team, you'll work alongside financial planners and advisors every day. As our tax practice continues to grow-and depending on your interests and strengths-you'll have opportunities to expand your knowledge and contribute to broader financial planning initiatives.
Whether that's supporting retirement planning, investment tax strategies, cash flow planning, or other complex planning projects, we believe in helping our team members continue to grow their expertise and make an even greater impact.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you'll:
  • Earn the trust of clients through exceptional service and thoughtful guidance.
  • Become a valued planning partner for Capita's financial advisors.
  • Help improve and strengthen our tax practice through your ideas and initiative.
  • Identify opportunities that enhance the client experience.
  • Expand your understanding of comprehensive financial planning.
  • Begin contributing to broader planning initiatives beyond tax, based on your interests and career goals.
  • Help build a tax practice that clients and advisors genuinely value.

Who Thrives Here
You'll probably enjoy this role if you:
  • Take ownership and naturally look for ways to improve things.
  • Enjoy building something rather than simply maintaining it.
  • Like solving problems and figuring things out.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with clients and teammates.
  • See tax planning as an important part of a client's overall financial strategy.
  • Value collaboration and enjoy working across teams.
  • Are curious, adaptable, and always looking to learn.
  • Want to grow your career beyond traditional tax preparation.

This Role May Not Be the Best Fit If You Prefer
  • Clearly defined processes for every situation.
  • Working independently with little collaboration.
  • Focusing only on tax preparation.
  • Waiting for someone else to solve problems.
  • A highly structured environment where little changes.

Qualifications
Required
  • Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential.
  • Experience preparing and filing individual and business tax returns.
  • Experience using professional tax software such as Drake, UltraTax, or similar.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred
  • Experience in a wealth management, advisory, or public accounting firm.
  • Understanding of how tax planning supports broader financial planning.
  • Experience responding to IRS or state tax notices.
  • A desire to improve processes and contribute to a growing business.

Why Capita?
Capita is a growing Registered Investment Advisor dedicated to helping clients achieve financial confidence through trusted relationships and comprehensive financial planning.
Our tax practice is a natural extension of that mission. Rather than operating as a standalone tax department, you'll work alongside financial advisors and planners to deliver an integrated client experience that combines proactive tax planning with long-term financial strategy.
You'll have the opportunity to influence how our tax services evolve, contribute ideas that make a real impact, and grow alongside a collaborative team that values initiative, innovation, and genuine care for clients.
Compensation & Benefits
We offer competitive compensation and meaningful opportunities for growth. As our tax practice expands, you'll have the opportunity to increase your impact and your earnings through the continued growth of our tax business and deeper client relationships.
Benefits include:
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance with generous company contributions
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with company contributions
  • Employer-paid basic life, AD&D, and long-term disability insurance
  • 401(k) with company match after six months
  • Paid time off and 12 paid holidays

Ready to Help Build Something?
If you're excited by the opportunity to build a growing tax practice, collaborate with financial advisors, expand your financial planning expertise, and make a lasting impact on clients' financial lives, we'd love to hear from you.
The safety and security of our employees and our clients is top priority. All offers of employment at Capita Financial are contingent upon a clear background check.
