Job description

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus as an Instructional Designer within the Training and Development team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Training and Development, you will design, develop, and enhance e-learning courses, performance support tools, and learning resources that strengthen employee capability, support business priorities, and improve the learner experience across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Create and update e-learning content, graphics, presentations, process documentation, job aids, and performance support materials using approved development tools, templates, and creativity within brand guidelines.
  • Build deliverables that are both training solutions and practical reference tools for real-world use.
  • Synthesize complex technical content, operational processes, learning objectives, and business needs into complete, learner-centered e-learning courses using instructional design best practices and adult learning principles.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of internal technical training programs, including role-based learning paths, QualU Boot Camp content, process training, and performance support resources.
  • Develop engaging e-learning experiences using Articulate Rise 360 and Storyline 360, transforming technical, operational, leadership, and business content into learner-centered learning solutions.
  • Apply visual design principles and branding standards to create engaging, professional learning materials.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to gather, organize, validate, and refine content for learning solutions and performance support resources.
  • Review and refine instructional materials based on stakeholder feedback and learner outcomes.
  • Adapt effectively to changing priorities, stakeholder feedback, and evolving requirements while balancing quality, timelines, and learner needs.
  • Use available tools, including AI-supported workflows, to improve efficiency and support internal content development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Educational Technology, Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience developing e-learning content and performance support materials.
  • 3+ years of instructional design experience, specifically focused on e-learning content creation.
  • 2+ years of experience developing learning content using Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and manage work within agile or iterative workflows while balancing multiple priorities, deadlines, evolving requirements, and limited SME availability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating with SMEs and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify content gaps, clarify unclear information, and develop effective instructional solutions that support learner success.
  • Proven ability to transform complex technical, operational, or business content into clear, engaging, and actionable learning solutions for employee audiences.
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted content development tools and workflows to support course design and development.
  • Portfolio demonstrating instructional design and e-learning development work.
  • Experience developing technical or operational training within engineering, utility, power delivery, construction, or industrial environments preferred.
