Job description

Conversion Manager (Production)

Manage all aspects of the conversion department including but not limited to setting work schedules, maintaining inventory accuracy, and factory cleanliness. Assist on special projects as required.

Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain department objectives.

Creates and/or reviews daily production schedule for the department to plan work and personnel assignment for the shift as well as calculate production efficiencies.

Supervises and directs personnel in performing operations according to sound operating principles and company policies and procedures.

Proven track record of process improvement programs and implementation.

Responsible for leading/planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are reported/completed in a timely fashion and within budget.

Anticipates and determines causes of delays in shift operations and takes appropriate action to meet shipping and production schedules.

Reports promptly to customer service and production planning department when delays occur, estimates time of delay when operations will be resumed and produces reports accordingly.

Contacts engineering and maintenance departments for required repair work and advises production planning accordingly.

As required, attends planning meetings to help facilitate production schedules.

Reviews quality assurance hold area and authorizes rework or scrapping of materials when appropriate and implement root cause analysis to prevent quality issues.

With appropriate personnel, studies operations where cost standards are not being met to determine causes and apply corrective measures.

Interviews applicants for department jobs and recommends candidates for hiring. With designated department trainer, conducts orientation of new hires and their safety training on shift.

Applies company employee relations policies in all dealing with employees.

Maintains good housekeeping in the department as well as inventory accuracy.

Must exhibit strong personal leadership and communications abilities.

With management present, conducts probationary reviews of employees.

Conducts performance reviews of each departmental employee and recommends performance in retaining, transfer, or termination.

Must have passed yearly forklift certification testing.

Notifies manager of any potential safety hazards.

Performs other tasks and duties as required by management.

Educational background, work experience and essential skills:

Associate's or bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.

Manufacturing engineering, budgeting, lean manufacturing, and project management experience preferred.

Solid mathematical skills, intermediate computer skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, good interpersonal skills for working with various departments as well as vendor representatives, excellent planning/scheduling skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and flexible scheduling.

Strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel (power user) and Word. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision, and PowerPoint applications is a plus.

Must be exceptionally detail-oriented and able to see the big picture.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively, efficiently, and independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision.

At least three (3) years' experience as a lead or supervisor.

Shift & schedule:

7:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Monday-Friday (Off Sat/Sun)
