Job description

Position: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) Lead
Location: Denver, CO (hybrid)
Employment Type: Short-term contract position

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) Lead to lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing optimization of our Dynamics 365 F&O environment. This individual will play a critical role in transitioning financial and operational processes from QuickBooks to Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience leading ERP implementations, strong functional knowledge of finance and accounting processes, and direct experience with QuickBooks-to-Dynamics migrations. This is an on-site hybrid role based in Denver, Colorado, requiring close collaboration with finance, accounting, operations, IT, and executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation and deployment of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Own functional design, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support for D365 F&O.
  • Lead the migration from QuickBooks to Dynamics 365 F&O, including:
    • Chart of Accounts migration and redesign
    • General Ledger balances
    • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
    • Customers and vendors
    • Fixed assets
    • Open transactions
    • Historical financial data
    • Bank and reconciliation data
  • Assess existing QuickBooks workflows and translate business requirements into scalable Dynamics 365 processes.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting leadership to design and optimize:
    • General Ledger
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Cash and Bank Management
    • Budgeting
    • Fixed Assets
    • Financial Reporting
    • Intercompany accounting
  • Facilitate discovery sessions and requirements-gathering workshops with business stakeholders.
  • Identify gaps between current-state QuickBooks processes and future-state D365 F&O capabilities.
  • Develop functional specifications and work closely with technical developers and integration teams.
  • Lead data mapping, cleansing, validation, migration, and reconciliation activities.
  • Manage integrations between Dynamics 365 F&O and other business applications.
  • Develop and execute test plans, including unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing.
  • Lead user training, documentation, and organizational change-management activities.
  • Troubleshoot functional issues and provide guidance on Dynamics 365 best practices.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, implementation partners, developers, and IT leadership.
  • Establish D365 governance, security roles, workflows, controls, and operating procedures.
  • Support cutover planning, go-live activities, and stabilization following implementation.
Required Qualifications:
  • 7-10+ years of ERP implementation and/or ERP consulting experience.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations / Dynamics AX.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a D365 F&O Functional Lead, Solution Lead, or ERP Lead.
  • Direct experience migrating financial systems and processes from QuickBooks to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial business processes.
  • Hands-on experience with core D365 Finance modules, particularly:
    • General Ledger
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Cash and Bank Management
    • Fixed Assets
    • Financial Reporting
  • Experience with ERP data migration, including mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Ability to translate accounting and operational requirements into D365 configurations and solutions.
  • Experience leading requirements workshops, process-mapping sessions, testing, and user training.
  • Strong understanding of ERP implementation methodologies and full implementation lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work directly with finance executives, accounting teams, business users, developers, and implementation partners.
  • Must be able and willing to work on-site in Denver, CO.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance certifications.
  • Previous experience leading a QuickBooks-to-D365 F&O greenfield implementation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, Power BI, Dataverse, or Azure integrations.
  • Experience with Dynamics 365 data entities and the Data Management Framework (DMF).
  • Knowledge of financial controls, audit requirements, and ERP security best practices.
  • Experience working with multi-entity, multi-company, or rapidly growing organizations.
  • Prior consulting or system integrator experience.
  • CPA, accounting, finance, or related business background is a plus.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will be both hands-on and strategic. You should be comfortable discussing accounting workflows with a Controller or CFO in one meeting and working with technical teams on data migration, integrations, and system configuration in the next.

You understand the limitations and workflows of QuickBooks and can guide an organization through the transition to a more sophisticated ERP environment. You will bring structure to the implementation while challenging legacy processes when Dynamics 365 offers a more scalable or efficient approach.

Key Success Measures

  • Successful migration from QuickBooks to Dynamics 365 F&O with accurate and reconciled financial data.
  • Adoption of standardized and scalable finance processes.
  • Successful delivery against implementation milestones and go-live objectives.
  • High user adoption across Finance and Operations.
