Job description

Hedger Operating Company is hiring a Pump Operator. A Concrete Pump Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and cleaning various types of concrete pumps used in construction sites. They are responsible for overseeing the placement of the concrete according to the construction plans and ensuring safety of the crew and the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain various types of concrete pumps in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer's instructions.
  • Connect hoses and pipelines to the pump, as well as set up the pump and pipeline system to transport concrete to the placement area.
  • Communicate with the site supervisor, crew, and the concrete delivery truck driver to ensure the safe and timely completion of the project.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the pump, hoses, and other equipment used in the operation of the concrete pump.
  • Pump concrete with precision and accuracy to ensure the quality and consistency of the concrete mixture and placement.
  • Ensure safety procedures and standards are followed at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and necessary repairs on pumps and equipment to ensure their proper functioning.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Commercial Driver’s License
  • Previous experience operating a concrete pump preferred, but willing to train
  • Knowledge of the basics of concrete placement and the properties of concrete
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
  • Ability to work in a team environment and promote teamwork and collaboration

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and kneel
  • Ability to work in a variety of positions, including at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold
