The Localization Specialist ensures timely delivery of multilingual content, supports localization and product release schedules, and contributes to the Course Package Translation Service. The role requires tracking localization issues, maintaining SOPs and training materials, and collaborating with internal teams and partners. Strong project management, technical writing, problem-solving, and customer support skills are essential to ensure a high-quality experience for all stakeholders. 

How will I make an impact?

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify localization gaps and resolve translation issues  
  • Support new translation deals and project manage end-to-end delivery of the Course Package Translation Service  
  • Develop, conduct, and track translation quality programs with internal/external stakeholders  
  • Analyze localizability and localization workflow issues and provide innovative, optimal solutions  
  • Develop, document, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive efficiency   
  • Create external documentation (FAQs, blog posts, SOPs, Known Issue and Fixed Issue articles, etc.,)  
  • Assist with additional high-priority localization tasks and initiatives as they arise  
  • Leverage AI-powered tools responsibly to support content creation, translation QA, and workflow efficiency while ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to organization AI governance 

What you'll bring to the role: 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to troubleshoot localization issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions 
  • Create, publish, and peer review content and media in accordance with the technical writing standards  
  • Monitor and maintain publishing queues to review, edit, and publish external content created by D2L colleagues  
  • Produce actionable insights by analyzing localization issue trends and time to resolution   
  • Ability to use data tracking tools  
  • Gather and analyze localization requirements in collaboration with requestors and subject matter experts (SMEs)  
  • Own successful completion of course package translation projects and other localization requests 
  • Manage vendor-relationships to deliver projects on time within budget  
  • Use AI-assisted authoring, summarization, and translation optimization tools to improve translation quality and operational efficiency while validating outputs for accuracy and consistency 

Suggested Qualifications/Experience:  

  • A 4-year college degree or 2-3 years of relevant experience  
  • Experience with human/machine translation and post-editing project management  
  • Fluency in at least one language other than English (Canadian French, Mexican Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, or Arabic)  
  • Experience with GitHub as a platform for version control  
  • Experience with Translation Management Software  
  • Familiarity with content and learning management systems (CMS and LMS)  
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
