Job description


Our client is a fully integrated environmental construction company delivering and implementing turnkey self-perform construction solutions to environmental challenges in soil, vapor, air and water (groundwater, stormwater, water/wastewater).  They serve both public and private-sector clients with diversified service lines that include soil and groundwater remediation, decommissioning/demolition, sensitive habitat/waterway restoration, and water/wastewater/air pollution treatment.

This position is based in Northern, CA office.


Purpose of Role
The role of the Technician is to perform general field labor tasks in a construction environment as necessary to support the field staff on the project.
 
Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Maintains dust control by watering the stockpile and the truck routes
  • Directs traffic to ensure the traffic is using the proper route and to ensure safety
  • Spots the Operators to ensure nobody is behind the work zone
  • Identify utilities by digging 'potholing' the surrounding area
  • Operates hand-held construction equipment (i.e. shovel, digging bar, etc.)
  • Observe safe work practices
  • Ensuring trash, debris and other items are picked up on the job site
  • Secure the excavation area from a safety standpoint
  • Responsible for SWPPP
  • Maintain consistent communication among crew members
  • Performs all daily necessary project manual labor tasks on-site
  • All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.




Qualifications
Ideal:
*             A positive attitude and willingness to take direction
*             Understanding proper safety procedures and recognizing hazards
*             Must be a team player and create a positive environment
*             Must be a self-starter and a go-getter
*             5+ years experience
*             40-Hr HAZWOPER or 8-Hr HAZWOPER Refresher (refresher can be provided)
 
Preferred:
*             High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
*             Construction industry experience preferred

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, as noted below:
*             While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.   
*             The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to operate a computer keyboard.
*             The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
*             The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  
*             Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.  
*             Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  
*             Subject to outside working conditions. At times we will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.

Pay rate: up to $35.00/hr DOE
