The Northeast Bronx YMCA is seeking a Sports Coordinator who will be responsible fororganizing and overseeing our youth and adult sports programming.  Theywill be responsible for game management, creating opportunities for members toplay competitively against other teams, developing sports-related skills andsportsmanlike conduct, and ensuring the safety of all participants.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the Pickleball program by providing close supervision of games.
  • Teach Pickleball classes, private lessons, and clinics for youth, teens, and adults, and may also support pickleball leagues.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper equipment is ordered and maintained with support from the Healthy Lifestyle Director.
  • Responsible for keeping attendance records of all classes and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.
  • Responsible for greeting all patrons with a positive attitude and always representing the Y Pickleball program in a professional manner.
  • Plan, promote, implement, supervise, and coordinate sports programs and special events.
  • Create opportunities for members to play competitively against other teams.
  • Organize and facilitate Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) games and enter scores for games or leagues.
  • Provide communication between the office, staff, and participants.
  • Assign times and locations for each team practice and game.
  • Create an atmosphere where all participants can have fun, be safe, and learn the importance of good principled athletics.
  • Complete program documentation as assigned (registration, incident reports, accident reports, attendance, and sign-in/sign-out sheets).
  • Maintain open communication and an excellent rapport with participants, staff, and members.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for information.
  • Promote interest and participation in sports programs through events, outreach, and informational programs.
  • Assess the performance and progress of participants.
  • Provide pickleball players and members with the highest level of customer service.
  • Instruct students on the proper techniques, skills, and strategies.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Actively participate in all training sessions and meetings.


Desired Skills & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of sports experience working with the listed age groups.
  • Pickleball minimum playing ability of level 3.5 or higher.
  • Pickleball Trainer certification preferred
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED training certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work with older adults is highly preferred.
