About the Role
The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional transportation of raw materials and finished products throughout the region. This position primarily operates a variety of commercial trailers, including walking floor (live floor), flatbed, end dump, dump truck, and other specialized trailers, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service.
Drivers are home daily and operate primarily on first shift, with routes that may cross state lines while remaining local and regional. This role requires a safety-conscious, dependable professional who takes pride in maintaining equipment, performing thorough inspections, and representing the company in a professional manner.

Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Equipment Operation
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles while towing various trailer configurations, including:
- Walking Floor (Live Floor)
- Flatbed
- End Dump
- Dump Trailer
- Dump Truck
- Lowboy trailers (preferred)
- Transport raw materials, bulk materials, and finished bagged products between facilities, customers, and job sites.
- Deliver materials safely and efficiently while meeting scheduled delivery times.
- Properly secure all loads to prevent damage or shifting during transport.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safe driving practices.
- Maintain courteous and professional interactions with customers, vendors, and team members.
Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections on all equipment.
- Complete required Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) accurately each day.
- Identify and report equipment defects, mechanical concerns, or safety issues immediately.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, including greasing and cleaning equipment as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance of both the truck interior and exterior.
- Ensure trailers and equipment remain in safe operating condition.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Deliveries
- Mileage
- Fuel usage
- Vehicle inspections
- Load documentation
- Hours of Service (HOS)
- Ensure compliance with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), DOT, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Report delays, incidents, accidents, or route changes promptly to dispatch or management.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and DOT regulations.
- Conduct daily vehicle and trailer inspections before and after each shift.
- Ensure all cargo is properly secured prior to transport.
- Wear required PPE while at facilities and customer locations.
- Immediately report accidents, equipment failures, spills, or unsafe conditions.
- Operate safely in all weather and road conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Ability to operate multiple trailer types safely.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable Class A driving experience.
- Clean driving record with no major violations within the past three years.
- Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background requirements.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely climb, bend, lift, secure loads, and perform physical job duties.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating:
- Walking Floor (Live Floor) trailers
- Flatbeds
- End Dump trailers
- Dump Trucks
- Lowboy trailers
- Experience hauling raw materials, bulk commodities, and finished products.
- Knowledge of proper load securement techniques for multiple trailer types.
- Experience crossing state lines while operating under DOT regulations.
- Route planning and GPS navigation experience.
- Basic mechanical skills for preventative maintenance and minor troubleshooting.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.

Drivers should be comfortable working in physically demanding conditions while maintaining a positive attitude and strong commitment to safety.
