Job description

Position SummaryWe are currently looking for Full Time, 3rd Shift Med Tech/Caregiver for our Assisted Living Community.  This position provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living as well as medication management.  Emergency first aid may be required from time to time.  Caregivers/Med Techs will be supervised by the Resident Services Director and the Assisted Living Director. 

Essential Functions

• Administer medications following established guidelines, policies and procedures, and state law• Assist residents with activities of daily living as specified in the resident’s service and care plan• Assist residents with bathing, dressing or undressing, grooming, transferring, toileting, and escort to and from appointments and other destinations.• Responsible for documenting in resident records any significant changes in resident’s condition and report such changes to the Resident Services Director• Take vital signs, including respirations, temperature, blood pressure and pulse and record information appropriately• Responsible for participating in and supporitng activity program• Provide companionship to residents• Monitor environment for safety or to maintain well-being of residents• Report incidents to the Resident Services Director and/or Assisted Living Director using the appropriate forms• Occasional light housekeeping, such as bed making and changing of linens• Participate in the development of the written service and care plan as requested by the resident• Ensure that the resident’s service and care plan is implemented

Organizational Functions

• Ensure that medications are administered following physician’s orders, established policy and procedure, and state law• Ensure that resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to file a complaint are upheld• Participates in and supports quality assurance/continuous quality improvement programs and processes• Serves on standing and ad hoc work teams/committees as required• Attends all mandatory in-services as directed• Consistently maintains complete confidentiality of all medical, financial, employee, computer or other sensitive material which may jeopardize the privacy of others• Demonstrates orientation towards excellent customer service in all interactions by conducting oneself in a cooperative, courteous, positive, and professional manner• Displays sensitivity and awareness of others• Follows through with established expectations and keeps customers informed of progress• Supports, maintains, and promotes Beatitudes’ Mission Statement• Performs other duties as requested or assigned

Skills / Requirements

· Must be certified with current, valid CPR, 1st Aid & Finger Print Clearance Card (if not, willing to obtain it upon hire.)

· Prior medication experience a preferred

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Strong desire to work with the elderly and care for their needs

· Must be reliable and work extremely well independently, and as a team member

· Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
