Retail Security Officer - Customer Service & Safety

Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky

Pay: $15.50 per hour probationary pay for the first 30 shifts, followed by $17.00 per hour for Officer 1, pending satisfactory evaluations/reviews. Bi-weekly pay.

Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule (Rotating 14-Day Cycle)

Enjoy a consistent schedule with 3 days off every other weekend! We operate on a 2-2-3 rotating shift (61.25 hours minimum every 14 day pay period):

  • Evening Shift: 2:45 PM – 11:30 PM

  • Shift Pattern: Mon/Tue (ON), Wed/Thu (OFF), Fri/Sat/Sun (ON), Mon/Tue (OFF), Wed/Thu (ON), Fri/Sat/Sun (OFF)  — 14 day pattern repeats indefinitely. 

Job Summary

We are seeking a professional, high-energy Security Officer to join our dedicated team in Bowling Green. In this role, you aren’t just a guard; you are a key part of the retail experience. You will provide a visible safety presence for shoppers and employees, providing top-tier customer service. This position is perfect for those who enjoy being active, as it requires frequent walking, standing, and driving around the retail site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Retail Patrol: Conduct frequent foot and vehicle patrols of store entrances, sales floors, and parking lots to ensure a safe environment.

  • Loss Prevention: Assist in deterring shoplifting and "shrink" through high-visibility presence and professional observation.

  • Customer Interaction: Act as a helpful point of contact for shoppers, providing directions and assistance with a friendly demeanor.

  • Incident Reporting: Use a smartphone/tablet to submit clear, digital reports regarding safety hazards, maintenance issues, or security incidents.

  • De-escalation: Use verbal communication skills to manage difficult situations and maintain a calm shopping atmosphere.

  • Equipment Management: Maintain and operate company equipment including two-way radios, access cards, and security vehicles.

Requirements
  • Age: Must be 20 years + 1 day of age or older.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Background: Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

  • Physical: Ability to stand and walk for long periods (up to 8 hours) and lift/move up to 20 lbs.

  • Communication: Strong verbal and written English skills for report writing and customer service.

  • Reliability: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Bowling Green area.
