About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Criminal Defense Trial Attorney to join its growing litigation team in Tacoma, Washington. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated trial attorney who is passionate about criminal defense advocacy, enjoys courtroom litigation, and is committed to delivering exceptional client representation.
The ideal candidate will have strong criminal litigation experience, outstanding courtroom advocacy skills, and the ability to independently manage misdemeanor and felony criminal cases while collaborating with an experienced legal team.
Key Responsibilities
· Represent clients in misdemeanor and felony criminal defense matters.
· Handle cases involving DUI, assault, domestic violence, drug offenses, theft, and other criminal matters.
· Develop case strategies and provide strategic legal counsel throughout all stages of litigation.
· Draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.
· Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive legal arguments.
· Represent clients at hearings, bench trials, jury trials, and other court proceedings.
· Negotiate with prosecutors to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
· Participate in client consultations and maintain regular communication throughout the legal process.
· Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to ensure efficient case management and exceptional client service.
Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
· Active membership in the Washington State Bar Association, in good standing.
· Approximately 3-5+ years of Criminal Defense or Criminal Litigation experience.
· Strong courtroom advocacy and trial experience.
· Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and negotiation skills.
· Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
· Ability to independently manage a busy caseload while working effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Former prosecutor experience.
· Jury trial experience.
· Personal Injury litigation experience.
· Spanish language proficiency.
· Experience with Clio or other legal case management software.
