The Role

As a Lumen Network Technician, focused on installation and maintenance you will be responsible for all aspects of cable repair and maintenance both copper and fiber splicing, carrier systems repair and maintenance will be a feature of this position, also including but is not limited to installation and repairs on POTS and DSL services, buried section repairs (dig and fix), rehab and corrective action on irregular plant conditions in all aerial, buried and underground plant plus all installation aspects to include, but is not limited of GPON, DSL, bonded DSL and POTS services.

Location and Schedule

This is a fulltime position located in St. Paul, MN. Typically Monday through Friday : 8AM - 4:30PM, and also includes a Saturday rotation. May also include nights, weekends, and holidays. 

The Main Responsibilities

Install, splice, and test fiber optic and copper cables for projects, maintenance, and emergency repairs.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing fiber and copper networks, locating and resolving faults to ensure service continuity.
Install, configure, and enable residential and small business telecommunication services such as POTS, HSI, VDSL, FTTH, and networking.
Connect and manage wiring/cabling, terminals, and hardware attachments on customer premises, poles, and inside facilities.
Read and interpret service orders, repair tickets, technical drawings, blueprints, diagrams, and maps to execute work accurately.
Coordinate testing of customer lines with test centers or designated personnel and document results per company standards.
Interact professionally with customers to assess service requirements, confirm issues, and suggest appropriate solutions.
Update service orders, review billing information, and advise customers on equipment features, usage, and capabilities.
Identify and pursue additional revenue opportunities by recognizing potential upsell or cross-sell services during customer interactions.
Adhere to safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations while performing fieldwork and documenting all activities.

What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Must work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • Drive company-provided vehicle.
  • Requires a valid state driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • May require compliance with State and Federal Department of Transportation Drive Qualification Regulations, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • May require a CDL.
  • May climb and work at elevations (e.g., from ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet.
  • May require pole climbing certification.
  • When working aloft with ladders or other equipment with weight-capacity ratings, employees must adhere to the Company safety policy and equipment weight requirements.
  • May work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawl spaces, utility holes).
  • May perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting and/or moving objects weighing over 75 pounds.
  • May perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (e.g., extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather).
  • Depending on the location, pole climbing certification may be required.
