About the Role
As a School Bus Mechanic at DS Bus South, you'll play a key role in keeping our buses safe and compliant. You'll diagnose issues, perform repairs, complete preventive maintenance, and ensure our vehicles meet safety standards. You'll work closely with drivers and operations-but you'll also feel confident working independently.
What You'll Do
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair school buses and other fleet vehicles
  • Perform routine maintenance, safety inspections, and preventive service
  • Communicate clearly with drivers about vehicle concerns and needed repairs
  • Document work completed and maintain accurate service records
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop
  • Follow all safety and compliance standards
  • Support other shop or fleet duties as needed
What We're Looking For
  • At least 1 year of mechanic experience(fleet, automotive, or bus experience preferred)
  • Basic diagnostic and repair skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus)
  • Ability to obtain a CDL through our in-house training program
